A hypothesis about women running modeling agencies

I have this hypothesis about women running modeling agencies that these women are very insecure and are therefore power tripping; more, that these women see young, beautiful women as a threat, and therefore want to power trip specifically over them (the young/beautiful women).

I see this all the time, both in the modeling agencies next door (one on either side) and in a woman I knew who managed the makeup girls at Macy's and similar. They all get this air of annoyance that everyone in their little fiefdom isn't good enough, and it looks pathetically fake.

Yet, sadly, these same beautiful women stupidly don't see it for what it is, even if it's painfully obvious to a side observer like me.

And now since you've read this threat, share what you think? (So we don't have 1000 views and 20 responses).

I disagree. I have a very good friend who owns and runs a modelling agency. She absolutely rocks and her models adore her. Even though she's only 10+/- years older than them, they think of her as a mother figure.

I generally agree with the OP. The show The Agency -- which follows the Women's board at Wilhelmina Management in NY -- is a perfect case in point. There is one female agent in particular who has a terribly foul personality. It's painful to watch her tear apart these young beautiful girls when she herself is below average in appearance.
