Citizen Erased Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 Is there any way you can get a life insurance policy on him? That could help you deal with this. oh wow... I suppose keeping him alive is a selfish thing, but it's really how I feel. No-one would ever call it selfish. Every person in your position would be feeling the way you are right now.
allina Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 All I can really do at this point is hope. I don't think I have any other option. I hate to be negative but I think this is true. If this is a man you see a solid future with I would handle this very gently. If you influence him to stay you run the risk of him resenting you later on. Lets say he stays, takes a job and ends up not liking the job and having money trouble, he might transfer that unhappiness on to you. If he ends up going how soon would he leave? I sort of feel like torturing yourself for a year over a man you've only dated a couple of months is too risky unless you're sure that the relationship can last long term.

Starry-eyed Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 If you influence him to stay you run the risk of him resenting you later on. Lets say he stays, takes a job and ends up not liking the job and having money trouble, he might transfer that unhappiness on to you. He has to make this decision on his own and for himself, but it's totally fair for you to tell him what you feel and what you've researched about the conditions and statistics over there. He might be in denial about the dangers because of the attraction of the money. On the other hand, being in law enforcement of any type does take a person who knows his health and safety is at stake every day. I hope he doesn't go, now that you've found him.
