Well, it's good to see you're doing this for the right reasons, that being because YOU want to. My ex went out of her way to try to get me dressing like a preppy college kid, complete with buying me clothes and a bottle of cologne she liked for my birthday. Needless to say, the clothes are collecting dust in my closet until I drop them at Goodwill, and the cologne is on my dresser until I remember to toss it in the trash.

Yeah I definitely see what you mean, no one wants to be forced to change themselves - it's just unfair, and no one has the right to decide how another person should dress / smell / act. So I can totally see where you are coming from, I think we've all had someone like that in the past.

Thanks for the support! I'm certainly doing this because I want to, and a little change now and then is good, eh?

Guys, dress in what you're comfortable in and dress to make yourselves feel good. Once in awhile I'll buy something I love but aren't comfortable wearing. Guess what? It sits in the closet and never gets worn until it's time to clean the closet. Off to a friend's place or to charity, it goes.

I personally like a good-looking guy dressed like a hobo. Shows me he is not self-involved. That only works if you're a student though.

Cargo pants + sweatshirts in grey turn me on.

I have one last question for you ladies, but this isn't really pertaining to clothing but rather physique. I'm fairly tall (6 foot 2) and have a dark complexion (Lebanese heritage, ha), and I am slim built but not muscular... I don't have any gut, I have a SLIGHT 6 pack (not very visible) but not much upper body muscle. I'm also sorta pale on my chest/stomach :o Would you ladies consider that unattractive? I've already started working out at the gym again (I'll have the 6pack again sometime!!) but are the small upper arm muscles and sorta pale body turnoffs?

Just curious, because I'm going to a pool party in a week or so and don't want to send the wrong message.

Who cares about a tan? Not I...

Alright, I'm looking to revamp my wardrobe

Dynamo - Can you describe your body type? Tall, Short, Big, Athletic, thick, lean, etc.

This will help determine a killer look for you....

Sure! I'm 6 foot 2, lean and atheltic build but not a lot of upper body muscle. I have a slight 6 pack which I am working on getting more defined with a lot of core exercises. I have a darker complexion and brown hair / eyes . I'm a mix of Native American, Lebanese and Irish if that helps at all :p

Anything else feel free to ask! I may be able to get a picture of myself up if I can find the cord to the digital camera, if that'd help :D

Thanks!

Ladies, if you say jump, and I ask how high, and you tell me, should I jump that exact distance or try to jump higher to impress you?

I kid.

... some people's children.

Gross, avoid stores like these at all costs: Abercrombie, Hollister, American Eagle. You will look like a tool.

Instead dress hiply and affordably by going to a place like H&M. On young guys the black Levis/converse shoes/band tshirt or button down/blazer look is FAILSAFE and will always get you noticed by girls. Throw in a hip, slightly tossled looking haircut and you're good to go.

But please, please avoid the trifecta above unless you want to attract the kind of girl who wears sweatpants, flip flops and chews gum loudly.

You need to jump higher than expected. Once you've done this, I will raise the bar. I know you can do it.

Now assume the position.

I prefer my men to be unclothed, thank you.

Dynamo, (which, btw, means "gold digging" in Russian), don't worry about women so much. Be stylish and have your own thing going. Women will find you and come to you on their own initiative.

Personally, I like my man to dress like he is in the Schutzstaffel! :bunny:

Whatever he wears, he has to be comfortable in it. I hate when men wear certain items because it's a fad (or worse, because it emulates a kind of lifestyle)...nothing is grosser.

Sincere fashion style is hot. Being a poser is not.

I agree. The only reason I'm doing this is because my wardrobe really is in dire need of some revamping. I'm not dissatisfied with my current appearance, I just feel like trying something new. I think I speak for all guys (Or most guys, atleast!) When I say we look for comfort over fashion, so you don't have to worry about me wearing things I find uncomfortable.. :p

I'm just trying to improve another aspect of my life. I've worked on the social side a lot lately, why not bring the appearance up? :D

Thanks for all the help so far, everyone!

Dynamo, I didn't mean to say that you were a poser by virtue of posting such a question. It's cool that you're seeking advice to better equip yourself with some knowledge before hitting the pavement for your shopping excursion (new fashion knowledge can never hurt, right?).

And you're right about comfort (goes for women too). I wore these ridiculous heels to a wedding in the summer...and thought I'd pass out just walking in them. What others saw as a sexy sway was really me teetering to and fro, trying not to fall flat on my face.

Comfort is sexy.

Oh no worries Ocean-Blue, I understood what you meant :) I was simply agreeing with your comments, because I know many people who dress in certain fashions simply because it's the "cool" thing. I definitely have my share of problems but I'm glad I've never been a guy who falls into the "cool fad" traps :D

My favorite topic, aside from sex:

1. Get a few pairs of whiskered or pre-washed jeans

2. Skull t-shirts or Ed Hardy T-shirts are really fun and hip.

3. Long sleeved button down shirts worn outside jeans is way hot (flip the cuffs over) - best designer for this is Robert Graham and 7 Diamonds

4. A great sport jacket (cashmere, leather or suede) will be great for this time of year.

5. I prefer casual shoes or sandals with this look instead of sneakers

6. NO BELTS

7. Don't show your socks (high waters, floods) - make sure the clothes you have fit.

8. Good grooming is vital (take the hair away from your nose, ears, eyebrows, etc.) Keep the hair on your head neat and cropped.

9. Hands should be smooth - use a non alcohol based moisturizing and cut your nails and cuticles.

10. Use a good lip moisturizer, just in case you get connected.....

Good luck and report back to us what you purchased.......

I have bought a new clothes based off of this post. I love it.

Sorry to revive this topic, but I just wanted to let you all know something funny today: I had bought some Acqua Di Gio as someone suggested in this thread (I liked the smell and it mingled well with me) and I had at least 5 girls come up to me today and tell me how great I smell! LOL! So guys, I guess the ladies DO like this stuff.. ;)

Still haven't gotten around to buying clothes, maybe in a couple weeks!

LOL, glad to hear the cologne is working out.

You can't go wrong with Armani. Good choice. ;)

Bloody hell, if it's that effective, I should give this thing a go. Where did you get it from, Dynamo?

It is equivalent to ambrosia...the stuff is fantabulous. You get your hands on that and you will have to beat them off with a stick.

You can find it at most major department stores (and boutique designer places).

Or order it online.

My favorite look on a guy is actually a simple white dress shirt, a bit larger, and untucked, sleeves rolled up, with some good jeans. No cologne, just good hygiene. A guy who can carry that look off, he's usually got some style and he's comfortable with himself and I find that far more sexy than anything he can put on.
