KittenMoon Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 This might be a tad morbid, but I was hoping people might share some stories about couples who divorced that you NEVER imagined would (beside Brad and Jennifer ). I thought it might be nice for all those faced with divorces to know even the best looking partnerships can dissolve, and let us "left behind" single folks know that it's possible all the "happily ever afters" we see, aren't. Again, sorry if this seems insensitive. Personally, I'm just tired of seeing all these damn perfect couples. (If they weren't my close friends I'd have to hate them )
Author KittenMoon Posted November 17, 2007 Author Posted November 17, 2007 Well I was hoping for NON celebrities, but what the hey....
2sunny Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 that would be me and my xH. things always seemed perfect and were great - but he was never satisfied with the perfect wife, kids, job, 1.5 million dollar home - so he chose to risk it all with the assumption that i would forgive him for cheating. he is still in shock more than 2 years later. i had to respect myself - so we divorced after 20 years being married.
Trialbyfire Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 We were also considered the perfect couple. Perhaps not...
Tony T Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Not to hijack this thread...but I would have put a million dollars on Hillary divorcing Bill after Monica gave Bill a blow job in the Oval Office. HAHA! Now, she's using his butt to become president. The moral of this story: There's no divorce if it'll cost something you want really bad.

Author KittenMoon Posted November 17, 2007 Author Posted November 17, 2007 [/b] only if you intend to keep your self respect - hillary has her own motives but i'm sure no self respect. How can you say that? She was America's Most Humiliated Spouse and she took that sh*t and turned it around to become a front-runner for President! That woman's got some ovaries! (I can't say balls )
Curmudgeon Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 That woman's got some ovaries! (I can't say balls ) ...and no shame. Just naked ambition.
Curmudgeon Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Well I was hoping for NON celebrities, but what the hey.... I don't think anyone would have thought the ex and I would divorce, especially not after five children and 25 years of marriage. There are no guarantees in life but death and taxes. Looking back, the marriage should have ended at the half-way mark. Even my children say that.
Trialbyfire Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 [/b] only if you intend to keep your self respect - hillary has her own motives but i'm sure no self respect. While I don't admire or respect Hilary, something tells me she has more than enough self-respect. I sincerely doubt the two had a functional marriage, more a marriage of convenience. I don't condone cheating in anyway but who knows if the two had an agreement of open marriage.
RecordProducer Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 ...and no shame. Just naked ambition. Why would it be a shame that she didn't divorce him? It's not HER who cheated. We don't even know if she forgave him. It wasn't his first time anyway. Maybe they are good friends. You don't know their relationship. I don't see them as a couple at all.
Curmudgeon Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 I don't see them as a couple at all. There's nothing of love, respect, mutuality or relationship there, just ambition and opportunism. I think they're both disgusting!
Curmudgeon Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 While I don't admire or respect Hilary, something tells me she has more than enough self-respect. ...between self-respect and an inflated ego coupled with an entitlement attitude.
Trialbyfire Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 ...between self-respect and an inflated ego coupled with an entitlement attitude. Are you describing Hilary or just about every politician?
Curmudgeon Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Are you describing Hilary or just about every politician? ...personify the latter!
RecordProducer Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 I think they're both disgusting! :bunny: :bunny:
Curmudgeon Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 :bunny: :bunny: I think you and I need to talk!
RecordProducer Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 I think you and I need to talk! Your place or mine?
Lyssa Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 My 2nd brother and his W. They were so happy together. Everything was perfect to us, the outsiders. The way they loved each other and how happy they were whenever we have family gatherings at their or our place... it was a shock when he announced he was divorcing his W. I have never seen my brother cried so hard over a woman.
Curmudgeon Posted November 17, 2007 Posted November 17, 2007 Your place or mine? ...in-between, don't you think? But you have to be careful with me. I'm not as young as I once was, ya know!
RecordProducer Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Oh, you big, hairy Leo... I am afraid that if we meet you'll eat the little, tasty, pink piglet that I am.
Randal602 Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 just wanna pipe in for a second....when my first wife left me, I had to really go out of my way to convince my friends and family that she was gone...they didn't believe it.... I remember calling a close friend and telling him we wern't going to come to his wedding because we we seperating...he accused me of pullng his leg... just to get out of going..was this way with my family too..they didn't belive it now that I am divorcing again...when I tell people they react in the range of... we knew it wouldn't last ...to ... we not surprised... I inatiated the second divorce (reluctantly)...and am now amazed that people saw what I did not in this (my second) marriage and were so suprised by my first marriage failing

I'm sorry to hear you're going through a second divorce.
sumdude Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 This might be a tad morbid, but I was hoping people might share some stories about couples who divorced that you NEVER imagined would (beside Brad and Jennifer ). Nah, not really.. at least not anymore. Now almost nothing surprises me. I suppose I might be tad jaded these days.. I'm actually more surprised by the ones I didn't expect to make it carrying on.
