If a couple did have a close loving relationship and things ended for nothing really tangible (cheating, jealousy, possesiveness, etc) but over something like a "spark" or bad timing, then I think the chances are a lot higher down the road to get back together. I think most people think they can just jump back into it full tilt but to make it work you have to have learned from the past mistakes and if you truly both love each other, then taking it slow may just make it work.
