I'm at the end of my tether with my current GF. We've been together for 4 years now, living together for 3. This is the second time round for both of us and we both have 2 kids each for whom we have custody for.

Life used to be near perfect. Busy with 4 kids but it was fun. Over the last year though things have changed. And its one thing after another. To cut a long story short now there is no respect shown towards me. She cannot speak with civility and is often very sarcastic. Talking to her is useless. Its always my fault and what I have not done for her.

We live virtually seperate lives. She lives in the lounge where the TV is, I hide in my study on the Internet and the kids anywhere else in the house.

Whatever I do is never enough. I feel like I am a walking wallet and she says she feels like an unpaid childminder.

I try to make time for us to spend as a couple but it just isn't working.

All I ask for is some respect. The rest I can deal with. I am a good provider and my only vice perhaps is spending too much time on the computer. But hey, its not like I'm out there picking up women, a raging alcoholic or a wife beater!

Not really even sure why I'm posting here. I suppose I just need an outlet for my feelings and frustrations.

You two aren't meeting each other's ENs (emotional needs). What that means is that each of you has some very basic things you need from your partner in order to feel content and satisfied within the relationship, and it looks like neither of you is getting them.

You might start with a copy of The Five Love Languages by Chapman. It's a pretty quick, easy read, the basic premise of which is that we should show our love for our partner in ways they best recognize it. If your mate doesn't feel your love, for all intents and purposes, you might not love them at all. And it works both ways.

Your best bet... Prioritize your partner's needs as if they were your own. When you both make that a cardinal rule, you end up with something pretty good. :)
