Philbert Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 It was around 1989 and I was 13 or so. I had a friend down the street who's house I'd go to almost every day one summer. We had a good time but I also had a thing for his older sister, who was actually my age since the friend was younger than me. In fact by the end of that summer I was spending more time with her than him, though I never figured out if she knew we were the same age or just thought of me as her little brother's friend. Anyway flash forward almost 20 years to today. I'm sitting here getting some work done and for some reason her name pops into my head and I dropped it into Google. Turns out she's now a doctor at a big hospital around here. Her work email address was on the page I found along with a current picture (she's still hot). So I dropped her a "hey how ya been, remember me?" type email. Anyone ever done this? How'd it turn out?

So I dropped her a "hey how ya been, remember me?" type email. Anyone ever done this? How'd it turn out? I have. Over the summer, I was moving and going through old stuff. I found a high school phone roster and looked through it. I saw one of my female friends and thought "holy crap, I haven't thought of her in years...". So on a whim, I popped her name into myspace and it came right up. I requested her and we talked a bit. I ended up going to NY shortly thereafter (for other reasons) and we ended up hanging out and spending an entire day together. it was great, it was almost like nothing had changed. She lives with her bf now, but if she was single I would be on a mission to get her. She's way cool.
Author Philbert Posted November 10, 2007 Author Posted November 10, 2007 That's a nice story. I hadn't thought of myspace. I don't use any of those social networks, except Digg.com, if you can call it one, it's getting closer every day.
whichwayisup Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 Don't expect anything. I mean, chances are she's married. Anyway, if she's married leave her alone because I'm not sure if pursuing an old friendship with someone you've not seen in 20 years is a good idea, not only because she's married but because people change over time. You don't know her at all, all you are filled with is how you knew her when you were 13 years old.
Author Philbert Posted November 11, 2007 Author Posted November 11, 2007 Yeah I don't expect anything. Back then she was kind of a punk rock type, like similar to Madonna in the 80's. So if she's a doctor now It's a pretty good bet that she's changed. And I agree, probably married. Although you never know, my cousin is a doctor, same age, and she just got married a few months ago. But still I certainly expect nothing, that way if anything at all happens (even just an email saying "hi, I'm married") that's still a bonus.

I messaged him... So it's now 10 years since our first relationship and we are now together.
