I am 29. I have delt with mild/moderate acne for 16 years now. I am two months into Retin A micro treatment. My skin actually looks better than it did 2 weeks ago, but the damn zits keep coming! Mainly on my chin. My skin is red, itches, etc. It looks like it is sunburned. I know this is part of it, but I just want to hear from anyone who has gone the distance on this stuff with happy results.

I have tried so many kinds of treatments, it makes me sick ><

Also, anyone know of affordable non comedogenic shampoo/conditioner?

Thanks

I had tried Rentin-A for a few days but it made my face beet red and too sensitive to the sun so I gave up. I just dab Clearasil on the occassional pimple now and it works. What does comedogenic mean?

Try MetroGel or Noritate (prefer). The Noritate works good as an anti-inflamatory and reduces big stuff. It may bring it to the surface the next day but it works quick.

Have you tried Accutane? I was on Accutane. OMG, BEST STUFF...EVER!!! Are you going to a derm?

I used to use Retin A and it worked like a charm for me. The years I used it, my skin was clear as a bell but it did take a few months for my skin to get used to the harsh treatment. I haven't been to a derm in a few years and my skin is starting to look bad again now that i'm pregnant with all these horomones, so I may have to try it again.

I know that when I was on Accutane, the third and fourth month were AWFUL, my skin was all dry, I had nose bleeds, thirsty all the time, lips dry, my cysts were big and I had to get steriod injections in them, my hair was falling out, I was depressed and overweight, but by the end of the 4th month into the 5th, I took my anger out in the weight room. It was no time before my face was clear, lost some weight, and it was GREAT!!

Retin A is someting kind of like Accutane, isn't it?

Retin A is NOTHING like Accutane. Accutane is an internal medicine, is it not? Retin A is just an ointment you put on each night and, in my case, every other night after the first month. What it does is accelerate the skin's natural process of sloughing off dead skin cells, leaving your skin more youthful looking and not prone to acne any longer because, with the dead skin cells cleared away, the pores don't clog up like they used to. It was a miracle for me!

Oh, okay, I just thought it was similar because they are both a derivative of Vitamin A.

Thanks for the info.

Retin A also worked wonders for me, in my early twenties. My boyfriend told me my skin glows now
