dbtmarley Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 Just noticed this, some of you may have seen it on the news: http://www.ky3.com/news/local/11116326.html Sheeeez, kind of makes you wonder what's safe in this world for kiddies to play with.
Citizen Erased Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 Yeah, I heard about this. The toy is called something else over here. But I do know that my bf's sister had bought the toy for her daughter for Christmas. Lucky they discovered this now!
Storyrider Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 I heard about this yesterday and took the Aquadots away; we did have some. But I don't get it. Was this an accident that they are coated with a narcotic, or did the manufacturer have some evil scheme to drug little children?

I think it was just a certain mix of the chemicals, when all put together they make GHB or whatever. I doubt the manufacturer had any idea at the time they were made.
EricOnTheWeb Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 Hell I have aquadots in my pez dispenser, pop then all the time...yummy. the green ones taste the best.
Meaplus3 Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Just noticed this, some of you may have seen it on the news: http://www.ky3.com/news/local/11116326.html Sheeeez, kind of makes you wonder what's safe in this world for kiddies to play with. This is very scarey. My H told me about it yesterday. He think's that the certain chemical's when mixed together created some type of a narcotic. Glad they caught this as soon as they did. AP:)
Trialbyfire Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 My friends and I were just discussing this the other night. Aquadots when consumed, causes a similar reaction to roofies. And you wonder why women take their drinks onto the dance floor, at clubs?
Timberlane Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Starbucks recalled their childrens' sippy cups with the yellow little extra glue on piece. The problem is that the plastic is so brittle that it shatters into sharp pieces if dropped. They are made in... wait for it... China. Oddly enough I don't think they are slathered with lead paint.
LucreziaBorgia Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 We had a toy recall at work not too long ago. Turns out the red paint on all of the Thomas the Tank Engine toys had large amounts of lead in them. We pulled lots and lots of toys. Nearly all of them had some red on them somewhere. What bothered me most though, is that we have a large traintrack playset in the children's department and a few of the toys on the table had red on them too. Those toys have been sitting there for the entire 11 years our store has been open. They were made in China too. Maybe China is planning to take over the world by exporting poisoned toys to all the boys and girls of the world! Just kidding of course.
