Long story short, he more or less broke it off with me about 6 months ago. But..if he didn't, I would have. I initiated the NC, he wasn't too happy about that.

We both loved each other, but other major stresses in our lives turned us both into a**holes and we fought too much.

I was devestated, but I've recovered. I've dated other guys, I went overseas, I'm moving into a great new place, I'm really quite happy with the way things are going in my life.

Now....

There he is, 6 months down the track, adding himself to one of my friends' facebook. I hadn't thought about much till now. He knows that this guy is closer to me than he is.

So I was thinking of sending him a "hey how are things? hope all is well" message through facebook or email.

I dont hate him. I dont want him back. I honestly dont know what he thinks of me, I'm well aware that he might reply with something far less savoury. I just had a lot of fun with him, we suck as a couple, but Id like to see if I can do a friendship thing. No sex, I can get that elsewhere. Just the odd chat and what not.

Is this a bad idea? I ask, simply because I know how heavily promoted NC is here and I've practiced it religiously for the last 6 months! :D

Hi Swept,

I don't see any harm in it for you, but do you think he'll be able to handle hearing from you again? It might just hurt him.

I dont know. I can't see how it would hurt him. He was the one who ended it really, even though it *had* to end.

Has anyone got any GOOD experiences with this?

I agree with scorpio reopening an old wound still produces pain. Suprisingly for guys too. He may have ended it but he still wanted to maintain contact and you stopped that so he may still have some feelings for you
