investorist Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 Hi people, Here's the situation: Imagine you were walking around a shopping mall. Suddenly the dream girl/guy that you wanted most in your entire life walked past. How are you going to make the approach? What will you say in order to get his/her number? Are you even going to make the approach? Any opinions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Timberlane Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 All you can notice about someone whilst walking by them in an instant is what they look like. So there is no connection other than that. How is it possible that this is one's "dream girl?" It isn't possible. So I'd faggitaboutit. Now on the other hand, one could strike up a conversation about where the minced garlic is. Capice? Here's a sample: "Excuse me, but do you know where they have the minced garlic? I can never find it." "No." "Well that's a relief. Now my breath will be minty fresh when I kiss you tonight after dinner. Do you happen to know where the minty fresh mouthwash is?" "Again, no." "I would like an ice cream now." "I have to go. Bye." "Yes, the sky was quite purple last night. Mmmmmhmmmm."
Trialbyfire Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 If the man of my dreams were to walk by, I would say "Hmmm...cute." and keep on walking. Why in the world would I want to approach a complete stranger?
The Loacker Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 You CAN approach complete strangers and get their numbers, you just need to be able to engage them in conversation for a few minutes. I'd suggest just practicing your conversation skills with total strangers (guys and girls), just to get yourself comfortable with talking to people you don't know.
Trialbyfire Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 I do talk to complete strangers but never to date them. No thanks.
Author investorist Posted November 9, 2007 Author Posted November 9, 2007 You probably nv meet anyone that you think can spice up your life in anyway
Phateless Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 It depends. If there is ANYTHING about her that I can use to make a smart remark, I'll take it. Otherwise, I'll fall back on "hi."
dbtmarley Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 I would not have to say anything because I would be holding her hand...my wife.
Timberlane Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 I do talk to complete strangers but never to date them. No thanks. Well, at some point a complete stranger gets a name, a story, and has a chance to throw out some signals about what they think about you. It's just that we rarely have time to do that in say, a grocery store. It happens, but there are better places. I meet strangers all of the time and then go climb with them, trusting my life to their skills based purely on what they say they are capable of. Met some strange girl last night. She might join us on Sunday. This is a little different, mind you, but the whole thing didn't take more than a few minutes and we have no friends in common.
MsArtful Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 I would have a giant perve, but not do anything. Just because there is strong physical attraction, or physical matching to your image of the "dreamguy/dreamgirl" does not mean they are, as others have said before me. I'm out of this world chicken, I'll admit, so it would just be lots of blushing and peeking over the shoulder. I would revisit the place every now and then in hope to see him again but in the end would leave it to fate and move on.

It's probably a difference in personality and gender. I talk to strangers all the time in assorted places, as long as it's a friendly conversation. Anything beyond that makes me very uncomfortable and there would be no way in Hades, I would ever date anyone I met at a bar/pub/club or in a grocery store. I like to know what and who I'm interacting with.

Trialbyfire Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 You're the exception, not the rule. I don't think I'm that much of an exception, for women. My female friends feel the same way too, although the guys differ.

Maybe you guys are just uptight. I know from personal experience that plenty of women will date a guy they met in a bar.

jerbear Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 Lets see... I'll suggest: 1) give her a stuffed animal and said you're cute and say hi 2) tell her she has the most mesmerizing eyes and say hi 3) give her you're number and say you're cute and even if it is an ego boost; here is my # 4) all the above! If you don't ask, it is already a NO!
EnigmaXOXO Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 How are you going to make the approach? Quick! Grab the clipboard from the piranha in the middle of the mall who’s soliciting product surveys from hapless shoppers. Like any good aggressive salesperson, grab “Dream Person’s” arm and with clever disguise in hand, start firing off questions so fast he/she doesn’t have the chance to gather their wits and run for the exit. Are your married? ... Have a significant other? ... Can I see your ring finger? ... Any kids? ... How many? ... How old? ... Any exes? ... How many? ... What happened? ... Heterosexual? ... Have a criminal record? ... STD’s? ... Employed? ... Any bench warrants? ... And would you mind if I took your name, phone number and personal statistics for our survey? We’ll pay you a dollar.

You bet this member is a spammist but this thread was interesting enough to post in it. It looks like the Mod/Admin gang has removed his other threads.
