I have not thought anything of it before but because my wife heard her on the phone then my wife told me … “You were flirting with that girl” and laughed and because I was embarrassed my face went red Is this flirting or just friendly what should I do about it I may of made the mistake of saying to this student when she asked about her perfume she was wearing was I said it was my fav because my wife has the same one without thinking, Was this wrong ?
norajane Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 18 year old girls practice their flirting skills on older men, its a fact of life. Don't enter into personal conversations about their hairstyles or perfume...it oculd be misinterpreted and you could end up in some hot water.
Tyra Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 You shouldn't have commented on her perfume at all. Yes, she is flirting with you, and you can't get mad at your wife for thinking the same thing.
Author Confused Man Posted November 9, 2007 Author Posted November 9, 2007 What about phone calls should i say anything ... Purfume comment was a inoccent mistake i didn't relise this 18y was flirting . I certainly didn't flirt to begin with . i made it clear that i had a wife
norajane Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 What about phone calls should i say anything .. What do you mean by should you say anything? Like what? Phone calls are just for booking and confirming appointments, right? That's pretty much all you should be discussing.
Author Confused Man Posted November 9, 2007 Author Posted November 9, 2007 booking calls are just that but she has a flirty tone . i get embarrased when she rings and someone can hear her through the phone
LucreziaBorgia Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 When she calls, keep your tone flat and impersonal. If she tries to say any personal information, cut her off and end the conversation. Do not, under any circumstances discuss anything else personal with her - not even answering questions.
Phateless Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 Hi i am happly married 4 years I have changed jobs recently and now working for a company teaching students to drive and am confused if this is flirting A female student 18y/old.. when she calls to book a lesson is VERY friendly on the phone and my wife thinks I am cheating with my students this student also asks me in the car if I like her new perfume or a new hairstyle she has. Sounds like you like this 18 year old and don't want to mess it up... she might be flirting. Some girls are naturally just very flirty and talkative, it may or may not mean anything. On top of that, if you're her instructor, she might be trying to charm you for her own benefits? If I meet a friend's parents, I turn on the charm full-force. Why? <shrug> I just want to make things easy for my friend. Edit - I wouldn't worry about it too much at this point. Mentioning the wife is definitely a good move. Just be professional and you'll be fine. If she flirts, don't worry about it unless it goes over the top. DON'T flirt back. Chances are she won't try to jump you in the car, so you can pretty much relax. If it gets ridiculous, then it might be time for drastic measures.
Author Confused Man Posted November 9, 2007 Author Posted November 9, 2007 Cool thanks for advice . Its not that i like this girl but i don't want to offend as i am teaching her freinds to drive also
quankanne Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 I said it was my fav because my wife has the same one without thinking, Was this wrong "Ah, (name of perfume) ... my wife smells so GOOD in that stuff." if the brat can't take a hint, maybe you need to fob her off on another instructor. Because no matter how innocent her flirting may be, someone's gonna get the wrong idea. For the most part, you need to ignore her when you aren't communicating with her in a dry, businesslike manner.
