cant let go Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 I don't know if there is a thread somewhere on here devoted to this already, but... Let's list any books that we are reading or have read and would recommend to others. I'm about halfway through this one: In the Meantime: Finding Yourself and the Love You Want by Iyanla Vanzant I think it is really great. It uses metophor and humor and intertwines it with spiritual healing. Great read for those lost and confused about love, how to love, and how to be loved.
sedgwick Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 I'm reading a lot of Faulkner. I used to think I hated Faulkner, then I realized it was because I didn't think I was smart enough to get him. So I tried again, and I'm madly in love! So it's only with a dead writer...at least it's a start!
Lyssa Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 I'm reading 'Purification of the Heart : Signs, Symptoms and Cures of the Spiritual Diseases of the Heart' by Hamza Yusuf. Very interesting. I've heard of the book by Iyanla... am thinking of getting that next!
MattyTee Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 I've read so many books recently, here are some top-notch books for everyone: The Alchemist - Paulo Coehlo The Zahir - Paulo Coehlo Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus - Dr Gray No More Mr Nice Guy (for the guys out there) - Dr Caliguy (or maybe it's Dr Glover) I would suggest everyone read The Zahir (it's about love and obsession) and Men Are From Mars - people should be given that one free on beginning their first relationship.
niceguy27 Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 I read No More Mr. Nice Guy. Gave me a lot of insight as to why some guys do certain things. Also shows people a huge insight into behavior patterns formed in childhood that affect adult relationships. Great read. Ive also started listening to self hypnosis and meditation audio books. Those have done absolute wonders for me.
Citizen Erased Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 Currently I am reading Sisters to the King - Maria Perry. Not the best book I have read on the Tudors, but interesting nontheless. The last book I finished was Wuthering Heights... for some reason I always put it off but I loved it. My all time favourite is Anna Karenina. Tolstoy is amazing, and most don't want to read War and Peace, so I would recommend AK to anyone.
Sanslatete Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 JOURNEY FROM ABANDONMENT TO HEALING - By Susan Anderson THE JOURNEY FROM HEARTBREAK TO CONNECTION - By Susan Anderson Enjoyed the first book and am working my way through the second, which is more of a workbook with exercises and tasks to work out. They describe the effects of abandonment by a significant partner and take you through the grief process. Concentrating mainly on the SWIRL method (Shattering, Withdrawal, Internalising, Rage, Lifting). I can identify with a lot of what's described in these books and it gives an idea of what to expect in the future.
JosieMcCoy Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 I just read this crazy book called 'And the Devil will drag you under!" it was cool! A couple had to fool some demons to gather objects and stuff!
