My general name for my boyfriend is "baby" but sometimes I'll call him dear, or sweetheart. I guess I just stick to the basics. His name for me is real basic too, it's "babe."

My ex husband's name was "honeysito."

It still is, we are divorced and whenever we go somewhere that's his name.

Liebling? Would that be a German term of endearment?

I use 'sweetie' most of the time, an ex of mine used to call me 'Monster' in a very affectionate way.

Otherwise when a man has a name like James for example, his mates will call him 'Jim' or Jimbo' so I'd always make sure I call him by his proper full name. Partly to be a little different and partly so that he knows I take him seriously.

The guy I like now, he's not my boyfriend, but he calls me "sweetie" and I call him "hon"... pretty generic, I guess, but it works for us! haha

But, yeah, when I have a boyfriend I tend to give him his own nickname. Usually, some variation on his name.
