Shandy Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Hi everyone, I'm wondering what endearment terms guys actually like to be called... maybe something kind of manly but cute at the same time? Or if you're a woman, what do you call your guy that he seems to like? Or do guys just prefer their girlfriend/wife call them by their first name? especially in front of other people?
tanbark813 Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 "Babe" "Handsome" "Gorgeous" ..all work for me. A "cutie patootie" every now and then is okay but should be used sparingly.
Citizen Erased Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 "Babe" "Handsome" "Gorgeous" ..all work for me. A "cutie patootie" every now and then is okay but should be used sparingly. I am so always calling you that now If I really want to annoy my bf then snookums is generally used. Snoogie oogie possum pie is also a good one (I know it makes no sense but is so fun to say )
tanbark813 Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 I am so always calling you that now Well, alright, but you may receive a lot of snoogie oogie possum pies in retaliation.
allina Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 I have lots of names for my bf, most of them related to his name and personality, though I do call him love, sweets and love-butt
allina Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 Well, alright, but you may receive a lot of snoogie oogie possum pies in retaliation. Wow Tan, that's a lot nicer than the "sugar tits" I was expecting to hear from you
JosieMcCoy Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 I like buster, or mac! But I do use the typical babe more often than not! Cheers!
Citizen Erased Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 Well, alright, but you may receive a lot of snoogie oogie possum pies in retaliation. Yes but I can get everyone to start calling you cutie patootie. They won't be bothered to type all mine out Sugar tits haven't heard that one for awhile.
shadowplay Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 I call my boyfriend "babe" or "baby." Most terms of endearment are pretty cloying, imo, especially when applied to men.
Timberlane Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 I call my ex wife Boo Boo and she still calls me Bun, short for Bunny. Her relatives raise rabbits, so I think it comes from there. One of my girlfriends called me Baby, which coming from her tough girl mouth was super sweet. The last girl I dated I called Sweet Stuff. Ha. She was a sweetie, all told. But I don't always come up with pet names for girlfriends nor do they come up with names for me.
tanbark813 Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 Wow Tan, that's a lot nicer than the "sugar tits" I was expecting to hear from you That's just for you, baby.
Citizen Erased Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 That's just for you, baby. If that isn't love, I don't know what is
Timberlane Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 When my wife had the tendons in two fingers severed in a car accident, the surgeon called her Boo, boo as well. I thought it was so cute. He was a Cajun. Ha. I think that's a common Cajun term of endearment. When my wife was a little annoyed with me, but not really angry, she would call me Bug. "Buuuug!" she would raise her voice in mock anger. So we call each other that on occasion just for fun.
shadowplay Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 My boyfriend and I vowed we would never be the kind of couple like on that episode of Seinfeld where Jerry and his gf call each other "shmoopy" and generally engage in gag-inducing behavior in the presence of other people. Somebody shoot me in the head if I ever get into a relationship like that.

Somebody shoot me in the head if I ever get into a relationshp like that. Yeah, I'm not into the sickening displays of affection. My bf calls me Bub, but that's about it really.
Timberlane Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 That does make me gag. A friend of mine called his girlfriend Pumpkin in front of all of us repeatedly. I think his name was Sugar Bear. My ex and I did this in private exclusively.

Blue Eyed Brain Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 I like Sparkie. Because every time I see him, I see sparks come from his eyes, at which time I start to see sparks and fireworks. Fella is another pet name I like to use, as in "my fella."
melodymatters Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 Yeah, Tans on the ball re: the stroking of the male ego. They hate "cute" but love, handsome, sexy, etc. Along the same vein, in a flirtatious manner, I have used, Cowboy, sailor. chief, and killer, and they seem to not " shrink" from those either:cool: ( across a crowded room, stick to hon, and babe )
allina Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 My bf's brother calls his gf his lady friend, he calls me his brother's lady friend, the way he says it is very sweet.
brothermartin Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 My ex and I used to call each other dumplin'. I miss that.
tanbark813 Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 My bf's brother calls his gf his lady friend, he calls me his brother's lady friend, the way he says it is very sweet. That's funny. My mom calls her bf her "gentleman friend".
