Sarita12385 Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Ouch! That is all I can say. Have any of you ever had an ulcer in your mouth? I've had so many in the past 20-some years, you think I'd be used to it by now. I have been looking everywhere for a "cure" for mouth ulcers but haven't gotten lucky yet. I finally went to a doctor and he told me I have an incurable virus in my systems which promotes mouth ulcers. The only thing that provides relief is Crest Pro-Health mouthwash and Orabase numbing gel, which only works for about 10-15 mins. These things hurt so bad that my apetite dies down and I get nautious at times. Horrible. The only way to take the pain away is to sleep which can even be difficult. HOWEVER! There is a new product out there called Orajel Protective Discs, or something along those lines. It's basically a band-aid for your ulcer. Anyone use these yet? If so - do they even work? Thanks in advanced for any input
amaysngrace Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 My sister was a cancer patient and she'd get these often. Her doctor prescribed her something called "magic mouthwash" I don't know exactly what was in it but I'm sure you can google it or something. She swore by it.
DazedandConfused66 Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 I've had these things my whole life, worse when I'm stressed. My mom got them all the time also so I think it may be hereditary. The only thing I've found in recent years is this paste made by ora-jel I think that forms a clear 'band aid' over the sore. It doesn't last long...maybe a few hours at most. But I'd apply it right before a meal so I wouldn't be making things worse. Otherwise, I hear supplemental Lysine helps. You can find all kinds of stuff at the natural remedy/GNC stores that is supposed to help. Taking in more Vitamin A, E and B2 also supposedly helps.
Author Sarita12385 Posted November 5, 2007 Author Posted November 5, 2007 I've taken every medication under the sun. That "magic swizzle" didn't do much for me unfortunately It took me about 20 mins just to eat a sandwich at work today, and I'm exhausted from doing that lol I'm going to guy those new Orajel Disc things so we'll see how that goes.
