Sexually adventurous, open to learning about new cultures, interested in trying new things (food, sports, etc), don't necessarily subscribe to "traditional" thinking (re: values, gender roles, etc). Basically someone who is willing to try new things (within reason).

Said accusation is typically based on me saying I won't do certain things because I have tried them before and disliked them. Clearly, touching the stove over and over again is affective use of my free time that I never have nearly enough of. Of course, there are people who claim to be open minded that are totally reasonable, they just tend to be rare. Semantics.

It's amazing that some men think being open-minded is all about sex. Yup! That has been my experience too. It annoys the hell out of me. Nowadays, saying you are open - minded is tantamount to saying I am open to casual sex, group sex, kinky sex etc.... This is especially true when it comes to the personals. Infuriating, really. When I read, I am looking for someone who is "open - minded", I say next!!!!
Timberlane Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 I've never liked the self descriptor "open-minded." In my circles, it was used more to indicate you were into New Age stuff. Ha ha ha. It's better to say you are open-minded about certain things, like economic theory or something like that. Open-minded just sounds like you don't have any strong convictions.
LucreziaBorgia Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Open minded in that sense is probably sexual: threesomes open relationship kink etc. I wouldn't think that it would refer to someone who wants a 'wholesome', monogamous relationship. Not on a dating site, anyway.
