Does a guy need a signal from a girl before they pursue a relationship with her?

I think he likes me, but I am shy. How can I signal to the guy I like that I am interested? I am not sure how to express my feelings and don't want him thinking I only want to be friends. I was wondering if a guy needs some sort of signal from a girl before they pursue a relationship. This guy is awesome and I cannot stop thinking about him!

There's no written rule that says women aren't allowed to initiate. Just ask this guy out. Unless you preface it with "You'd look so tasty with a little barbecue sauce..." and leer hungrily at him, he'll probably be flattered that you found him attractive enough to violate a societal more and ask him, as opposed to creeped out. Speaking from experience, I know this was true in my case, even though I was only kinda ambivalent about the girl at the time.

 

Since you seem to be worried that he may not pick up on it as a date, maybe pick an event of some sort that requires tickets - a comedy club, sporting event, maybe a concert. Tell him you have two tickets, and you want him to go with you. This leaves no room for "Oh cool, I'll ask George and Ringo if they want to go too, this'll be fun."
