How did you became close friends with a person you first met whether in school, college, or university?

You never think about these things until someone comes along and asks...

I don't have just one "best friend" because I hate to be bias towards having one friend as being better than another. I'll choose one specifically. My friend, Graham, and I met at a hobby shop when we were playing cards. It was a slower-developed friendship, but here and now we're real good friends.

I don't usually make strong attachments to anyone. There's only one person outside of my family that I would probably cry if they died, but she's not one of my "best friends."

Nothing special. My closest friends are just those who have similar/same interests as I do.

Well my best friend and I met at school in year 8. I had only moved to Australia about a year before that. I was eating some hot chips, she asked for one, and since then we have been friends :p

The things I like most about our friendship is that we don't have to speak to each other 24/7, we can go for a month without talking to each other sometimes. But if we need each other, are bored and just want to go out, then we will call without the other blowing up about not having spoken for whatever time. We understand that we have separate lives, and it works for us. Plus it just gives us more to talk about ;)

Karen and I were of same interest that's why we became close. We like to eat the same food, we love shopping.

Some of you are being vague, and haven't stated how you managed to be-friends with them. For example, I met this guy in high school and we became friends.

Primary School: My good friends from primary school were already a group of 2 before I moved to their school. They were already friends and I was the new kid. At first we kept our distance from each other and saw each other as "Acquaintances who share the same interests". By chance, my younger brother was in the same class with the younger brother of the 2 guys. My brother's friend invited him over and one of the 2 guys said "Your brother's coming over, you should come over too." He then invited the other guy along, and we had a blast playing videogames. I would say that that was when we became friends.

High School: Only had one person who ended up being a good friend from high school. For the first year, he and I would be the first people to arrive at school and we'd just talk about random stuff just to past the time. Then at the second year, we were in the same class and that's how became friends.

University: Not yet. Plenty of acquaintances though.

So at the moment you're alone in university. So what is your next move (be very specific).

I wouldn't say that I'm alone. One of my close friends go to the same uni as me but apart from that, there isn't anyone who I would call a close friend. At most I've got a gym buddy, a drinking/partying buddy, and the people who I regularly sit next to in tutorials. But apart from that, no dice. But it could just be because I'm of the "Lots of acquaintance but few friends" mold.
