Hey! This question is for the women in the crowd. I have a girl friend who has finally left an abusive relationship. I cannot over emphasize how low her self esteem is and I want to get some good chick flicks for us to watch.

I don't necessarily want romantic chick flicks...more the female empowering type, but without the unfortunate car accident at the end.

So my question is this. What puts you in an R-E-S-P-E-C-T mood.

Here are some of the ones I've thought of so far:

Aliens (of course)

Desperately Seeking Susan

Bridget Jones Diary

Thelma and Louise...

Thelma and Louise...

Me too. But they commit suicide in the end and she's so low. I don't want to introduce that idea.

This guy was beating her. She was kind of defending his behavior and I said "You are a young queen looking for suitable mate." and she just stared at me like I was speaking in tongues. The idea of herself as powerful and valuable was completely off the scope....you know what I mean?

Alien is good.

Terminator is cool, there is one with a lady terminator...she is tough.

I wouldn't recommend any romantic comedys. I used to turn off those movies before the unrealisic endings. (cynical I am)

There is a movie called Enough with that J lo person in it. It might be too close to her sitch, however.

If she is still coping I would steer clear of any emotional movies. Fluff and fun or chicks with guns.

Don't forget the popcorn and manicure supplies.
