intothevoid Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 I have been out with a man only 2 times. Last night we were supposed to have dinner and just meet there. When I arrived I noticed his car was there I had to park my car. By the time I parked and walked to the restaurant his car was gone. He called me a minute later and says...sorry my brother was in an accident I can't make it. Obviously not good and I can understand the severity of this. He indicated he would call me to let me know that everything was alright. But, no calls of course. I texted him breifly just to say Hope everything is alright. Still no response. I am slightly confused on how to proceed. Should I call him or just leave him alone? I am concerned about the situation and everything is alright. But, at the same time it makes me wonder if this is for real or not. I suppose if I was in this situation I would call and let the other person know what happened. Maybe I am being blown off in a weird way... Or he didn't like how I reacted to the call I was a little shocked and not really sure what to say. I just think it could have been handled better not a call but maybe waited for me and told me face to face.
JackhammerGemma Posted October 20, 2007 Posted October 20, 2007 I would think he could have called or texted you by now, if he were interested in you, out of courtesy if nothing else. If it were me I wouldn't contact him any further until he contacted me.

If that was true and he really wanted to be with you, he would have called you to let you know how things were. My bet is that he got a call from someone else at the last minute.. and wanted to be with that person rather than with you... sorry to be blunt but that's the feeling I get... but I could be wrong..

I assume that everyone would at least be respectful and just grow a pair and say hey...I don't want this anymore. Apparently, some people wuss out in the end. Shocking really! The intuition I got was he is lying..but I thought maybe I am just being harsh. I did see his car and thought well he had full intention on being here. In the end some men value hockey friends over commitments. How frustrating!! LOL Oh well next..
Amy22 Posted October 21, 2007 Posted October 21, 2007 I think I would give him more time if it was me. At this time you don't know how bad the accident was correct? I would think if his brother was severly injuried and in the hospital he maybe very distraught. You have only been on 2 dates so he maybe trying to cling to his family the people he is really close with. I wouldn't write things off yet. Now if he calls and his brother was not severly injuried I would be ticked that he did not call you to let you know what is going on. And if he lied about the whole story that makes it even worse. I would give him another day or two and if I didn't hear from him I would assume he lied and move on.
