Since my girlfriend left me and moved out last week I have had this terrible pain my stomach that won't go away. If I eat more than a few bites of food I throw up. I also can't sleep at night (been getting 2 hours at most). But I don't feel that "sad" anymore... I mean it still really sucks that she left me, but I'm not being all emo about it, and I think I'm handling it pretty well. But No matter what I do I can't make the physical manifestations of emotional distress and anxiety go away. I've also become very apathetic towards school and work, and find getting project/studying done to be VERY difficult.

Is this something I should just wait out? Are there any medications that help this sort of thing?

EDIT: I don't know why my subject line got cut, what I asked is: Should I get help?

after any loss there is typically anxiety and grief.

i would reccomend going to your school counseling center and meet with a pyschologist to see if talking it out helps. also go to the gym to expend some energy.

if aren't able to eat or still feeling overwhelmed in a few weeks, medication may help you. actually, they may give you meds now just to take as needed.

hope this helped.

I had somewhat similiar things when my ex left out of the blue. Its normal. Give it a few days and make sure you grieve your loss. Its a loss and you need to be able to express it. Go to a quiet place like a park or the woods and be alone to let it out. Surround yourself with family and CLOSE friends for a while. If it goes on for a couple weeks then yeah, you should go to a doctor or counselor.

Sorry to hear about this man. Post here to help get things out.

Buddy, you are grieving naturally. It is a process that you must go through.Nobody can tell you the timeframe. All I can assure you is that everyday you will heal a little. It may not manifest itself straight away but in your subconcious you are getting better and in 6 months time I bet you will either be in love again(with someone else) or will be enjoying life as a single person still waiting for the special one(who will come to you)and you will have learnt a lot from your past to better your future relationship.Good luck my friend!
