Sanslatete Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 Maybe this has been covered in some earlier thread, but is there any songs that pinpoint how you feel right now? Ones that you can bring yourself to listen to anyway. I find music very emotive and it can speak volumes when you can't find the words yourself. The three that I keep listening to at the moment, because they say so well what I can't adequately express are - Aerosmith - Hole in my soul. Aerosmith - What it takes. Eels - Mother****er. Check them out and you'll get my drift.
MattyTee Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 Well I can't get over the fact that my ex said that Joss Stone Chokin' Kind described our relationship!! I've actually been listening to classical mostly, because the lack of lyrics means there's less to spark off another crying session I like Avril Lavigne When You're Gone - yes I know it's not blokey but the lyrics really rang true.
Author Sanslatete Posted October 13, 2007 Author Posted October 13, 2007 I don't think it being 'blokey' or not really matters. Being hurt makes you not give a **** what is 'street-cred' or not. If it works....do it. I can see why you listen to classical too MattyTee, no lyrics....no memories. I struggle with what to listen to these days 'cos it seems everything says something to me that reminds me....so no words can be beneficial.
Biker2007 Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 Try the following: Dim by Dada - how I felt when we broke up... Call and answer by Barenaked Ladies - what I would say to her if I ever speak to her again Battleships By Travis - sums up my dating success Get Me - Everything but the Girl - song playing on one of my dates w/ my ex...and was already one of my favorites...I wish she did! Wasting time by the Judybats - how I felt about the ex You could be happy by Snow Patrol - to make me feel a little lower I also self medicate w/ music, so I bought an iPod shortly after my break up so I could have all my songs that turn me inside out thinking about her... Hope you guys are having a better day.
Author Sanslatete Posted October 13, 2007 Author Posted October 13, 2007 I also self medicate w/ music, so I bought an iPod shortly after my break up so I could have all my songs that turn me inside out thinking about her... Hope you guys are having a better day. I do this too....must be a self-harming thing?! Apart from that the radio does it's share. I woke up today to U2's 'Stuck in a moment'...very apt.
Biker2007 Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 this song is more self abuse than self medicate, but it has been playing in my head on long bike rides... I just don't think I will ever get over you by Colin Hay So many of my favorite songs/ CDs are now put on the shelf b/c they were playing quite often when I would spend time w/ the ex...tears me up inside!
Author Sanslatete Posted October 13, 2007 Author Posted October 13, 2007 Yeah, I've got a huge cd/vinyl collection but I'm left with only a handful of stuff I can listen to that won't sum up thoughts of her. Most of it pre-dates the ex but it can get dull listening to the same 4 or 5 cds continually. I don't have the strength to try anything else yet.
Bosiell Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 Coincedental post Sans.. Im one of those moods tonite (erm drunk!) where I have been checking some old smoochy favs on You Tube. Im a Lucky Man.. The Verve, Urban Hymms.. For when Im feeling positive. The Drugs Dont Work " " For when Im feeling crud. The Hamburg Song. Keane, Under the Iron Sea.. Which says all I want to say to her. I find it hard to play that one tho, esp tonite I could go on to. Yeah I agree, music during a stituation like this can be soooo emotive. A release. Take me back in time maybe I can forget, turn a different corner and you never would have met, would you care? I dont understand for you its a breeze, little by little you brought to my knees, dont you care!?
MattyTee Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 With you guys on the whole thing! I've had to start picking up new music and listening to that. Otherwise I just find myself curling up and crying. As you can probably tell not a great day for me
Author Sanslatete Posted October 13, 2007 Author Posted October 13, 2007 You and me both MattyTee. Fingers crossed for a better day tomorrow.
sedgwick Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 "Angel Land" and "Borrowed Wings" by Jim White. And, loath as I am to admit I like any song by anyone that could be described as a "bluegrass fusion jam band," "Send Me on My Way" by...oh god, am I really going to say this? Rusted Root. *hides* Really, I just like that one song. I have good taste in music, really. The ex was a musician, so unfortunately I have his songs stuck in my head constantly...sucks!!
your star Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Have you heard this one Sanslatete? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHfyDxy8i5o i listen to this song everyday...
Lyssa Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 Pieces Don't Fit Anymore - James Morrison. I love the lyrics. Pieces sure didn't fit in anymore during my previous relationship. Glad I got out of that one! Like all the songs listed here. More songs to be added into my playlist now!!
Lee725 Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 I normally like softer music but when i am hurting- linkin park, Korn, in fact anything that is as angry as i feel. Gives you a good chance to scream the frustrations out and not look like a complete raving lunatic!
Author Sanslatete Posted November 2, 2007 Author Posted November 2, 2007 Have you heard this one Sanslatete? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHfyDxy8i5o i listen to this song everyday... Yeah, it sucks when they say 'sorry' but go on and kill you anyway, very apt indeed.
MattyTee Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Woah that's odd. Just read this and that song is playing on TV right now
minerva63 Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 john mayer- dreaming with a broken heart gets me every time.
T L Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 I havnt been listening to any of my regular music. I have listened to the radio in my car, but have been tuning into oldies stations and the like just because it is completely different to what I would normally listen to and is comforting in a way. I inadvertantly pressed the cd player button in my car the other day and the cd that played was actually one I have had in my car since driving to the airport for our honymoon six short months ago and I remember us both singing along to the song. Its tough even typing that. I may find myself getting rid of a lot of cds.
T L Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 This is bizarre, I do believe in weird coincedences. Just made the post above and.......... had put ITunes on random and an Offspring track I have never really listened to is playing............. 'The End of the Line'. Dont suppose we are allowed to post lyrics on here, but you can look them up.
ftballfan300 Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Yes everyone should go listen to very sad music when you are down. LOLAre you people that bored with yourselves. GET A LIFE.
MattyTee Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Maybe we're just not afraid to have feelings or emotions. Perhaps we are able to let those emotions come to us, experience them and help ourselves in healing. You should try it sometime
bloodaye Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 that was kinda rude man,but i do agree that "one republic" song is NOT a good motivator, thats a "grab me a noose and hang myself song",but still there was no need to be so nasty,if you had any more of alife you wouldnt be posting here.
