oppath Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Hah, you're on my list I like pets, but come on. My health is more important. This really sucks. If I go on match.com I swear, at least every other girl I'm attracted to has dogs or cats. We might be perfectly compatible, but even though I was a Div I NCAA track athelete, my asthma will make me a mess around dogs or cats, and I can't breath for a day or two afterward. It sucks. for me. Especially because I am attracted to well educated (graduate degrees), successful women. They often live alone. And they therefore often have a pet.

I posted my reasons on the previous page. It sucks but I'm sure many of these women are like me, they have pets they love very much so what can they do.
shadowplay Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 On the subject of pets, it's strange but every guy I've been with has been a cat lover...no dog owners. What do you make of that? Are there just more cat owners out there?

I like to think that I have greater value than a pet, but then again, I am a bit of a dawg sometimes

Dogs require a house with a yard and lots of attention.
Author CanyonWall Posted October 12, 2007 Author Posted October 12, 2007 Something that allergic people should know - you can buy cats that do not produce the protein that people are allergic to. They have a natural mutation which means that do not generate the allergen. Unfortunately they are expensive, but cats are anyway. Smoking - please do not date a smoker in the hope they'll change. That's unfair, and you could be waiting a long, long time. What if they get lung cancer - will you still look after them? 75% of women don't smoke anyway.
jcster Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 I won't date: Guys that are rude to servers/bartenders Guys with road rage Braggarts Racists Guys that are bitter

I doesn't matter what I own. The issue is I can't date them. I get sick if I spend the night, and it lasts for a good 24-48 hours. My health is more important.

Right, but no girl is going to meet you and ditch her pets for some guy she just met (at least I hope not)
shadowplay Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Most of these are duh but... douchebags fratboys reformed fratboys who now work in middle management jobs players guys who spend their weekends watching football any guy found in a club guys who routinely wear baseball caps and polo shirts with popped collars guys who refer to their friends as 'the guys' guys who own a dane cook compilation and regularly quote adam sandler hmm...this all seems to be describing the same type
oppath Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Right, but no girl is going to meet you and ditch her pets for some guy she just met (at least I hope not) I wouldn't ask her to.
Woggle Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Another one is women who still listen to Britney Spears. They are playing Gimme More at all the clubs around here and if I were single I would talk to the women that weren't dancing when that song came on.
ItIs Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 I've found that relationships have a lot to do with chemistry, a bit to do with physics (one cannot deny the importance of friction), some art, and a good deal of sweet and/or kick-ass music, but not so much to do with statistics. But, yeah, there are some "deal-breakers," e.g., if their place has so much pet odor or they wear so much scent it gags me, if they're disrespectful, not intelligent enough to relate, excessive substance abuse and/or smoking without being reasonably accommodating, etc. Also not too crazy about violent psychotics, but I tend to repel people who are bad for me before even getting off the starting line, so to speak.
allina Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 I want to add one more obvious but important thing to my list. I cannot and will not date a guy who is dirty and has poor hygiene.
lino Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 I only have 2 strict ones that I won't budge on at all: girls that use any drugs( I didn't mind this in the past but experience has told me 'enough is enough!') alcohol & cigarette smoking is ok as long as it's not heavy. girls that have many more guy friends than they do girlfriends(again because of past experience) I have other less serious ones that I'll make an exception for if I see genuine potential.

Have you gone to college at a football school? Most harcore artist types find they really enjoy the experience. For me, it's celebrating the university and my time there, and I watch games with 200-300 alumni every saturday, even though I now live more than 2000 miles from that school. All kinds of people watch football. Frat boys aren't even the most knowledgable fans. Dorks are the ones who run the best blogs. Dorks who like football. Nerds is more appropriate. Most of them were computer science majors who never set foot in a frat. As for the Dane Cook compilation, I have one because I received it in a white elephant gift exchange. My whiskey was stolen away. I agree: he is not funny. His presentations and story telling is great though. And clubs...I hope you mean any guy who approaches you in a club. All I can say is it is not where you meet, but WHO you meet. Always going to the club is different than going occassionally.
jophil28 Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Who I won't date if I were single. Manhaters Women who cheated on exes with no remorse Hard drug users though an occasional joint is okay Women who won't take responsibility for their actions Dumb women They have to have at least decent taste in music What about - Narcissists Borderline Pers Disorders Cheaters Liars Femi-nasties Self important teachers Self Important Social Workers Women with absent fathers Women with drunken fathers Women with no fathers.. And the Winner is - Women who read Cosmo and leave it on their coffee table.

Woggle Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Didn't you download her album? No I got it for free through one of my connections. He had a copy on him and I was curious. Right now it is collecting dust though and I would never pay a dime for anything she does.

lovelorcet Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Didn't you download her album? I think he got it from some secret source... I have very few total KO reasons I think you always have to take the whole package into account. I think it is fair to say that I would not want to date a homeless, alcoholic who needs a shower. But I think what is more interesting is when you are kind of looking at someone new and "checking them out" what reasons would come up to make you think, no way... Like, "wow she seems like a nice girl but her fingernails are just disgusting." That being said, I could not date someone with strong religious beliefs or someone who was just flat out ignorant.
Woggle Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 One of my friends from my younger years works in the music industry but since I get stuff from him sometimes I will not give his name.
WaterTiger Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Deal breakers for me are: Smokers (of anything, ciggs, crack or pot) Drug users Heavy drinkers Criminal record "Momma's Boys" (whiney, indecisive, immature and weak-willed) Very thin (I like beefy guys) Unemployed (Homeless) Vegetarian Trouble controling their temper There are other things that put up redflags, but this is the "Carved In Stone" list.

I mean guys who spend their entire weekends doing nothing but watching sports. And, yes, I mean guys who approach me in a club or regularly go club hopping. Also the list was mostly facetious, but it does describe a 'type' I wouldn't date.
