someone2 Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 so, I met this cute girl today... started talking. We got along pretty well. Before I left I said "how can we continue this conversation?". She gave me her number and said "call me anytime. If you have any activities in mind, maybe we can do something sometime" (we are both students). Now, I went home, decided to add her to facebook, and lo and behold, she is in a relationship with someone! I found this weird. Would a girl give her number to someone just because she is thinking of it in a friendly way? I know women are innocent and all, but this looks way too much! Is she playing a game here? Is she thinking of cheating on him? Anyone has possible explanations or has been in a similar position? I am not sure how to proceed from here. I am thinking about inviting her to a group activity kind of thing and see where it takes us from there. What do you guys think?
CanyonWall Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Please don't rely on webpages for relationship status. She may have that to block out guys who hit on her. Apart from that, we, nor you don't know. I doubt if she is dating, she's cheating. Usually within the first meeting or two you hear "my boyfriend...". I'd suggest that you call her and suggest something. You never know. I'm 43, I can't count the number of times in the past I've let something slip by...
monkey00 Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 People aren't always honest about their relationship status, and especially not over the web. I know people who list themselves as single or looking for a relationship when they are already in one...and odd enough their SO's dont really mind at all.
Author someone2 Posted October 12, 2007 Author Posted October 12, 2007 Thanks, but in facebook you actually get "In a relationship with... " status. So, I see the other person name, and they have some pictures together too (about 2 months old!)
oppath Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 Well, if she accepted your facebook friend request, you can ask her about it. Just say "I noticed on your page you were in a relationship? What's that like?" Allow her to explain herself. Maybe she'll have a friend she can set you up with.

So, I see the other person name, and they have some pictures together too (about 2 months old!) Ok, thanks for clearing that up. She is openly in a relationship. My guess is she is simply being open to having male friends while in a relationship. So in that case, it looks like any romantic options are out of the question (unless they have just broken up...). Again, you never know.
Krytie TV Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 I have only one incredibly sound piece of dating and relationship advice for you someone. Get your ass off of facebook and MySpace and stay away from those who take it seriously. It turns otherwise normal people into social liabilities. Do a search, you'll see.
Saxis Posted October 12, 2007 Posted October 12, 2007 I know women are innocent and all... Hahaha... for some reason, I just can't stop laughing over this! Yeah, people don't really tell the truth on "social" sites, or anywhere else online for that matter. Either that, or they just don't keep it updated...
