carolinaboy Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 When I first started seeing my ex 2 1/2 years ago, her twin sister seemed like just another friend in the group. As the relationship grew deeper, it became obvious that their special bond was going to tower over any relationship (understandably) much less let a relationship bloom. I'm just asking opinions on if any of this seems like normal twin behavior or just weird and unhealthy? 1) ex's sister had a bf who had the same first name and build as me. the guy and i were into the same music/hobbies. 2) ex's sister introduced her to her new guy who happens to be the sister's bf's best friend. 3)during our relationship the twins moved to NY for the summer for one month, ended up staying for 3 1/2. (this just sucks, i dont know if it's twin related) 4)When they moved back from NY, they moved in with me as a pair, then asked if they could pay rent for one person. 5) one will get a job and the other one will go work it if the other feels lazy (they dont look EXACTLY alike). they also split working into 6 mo increments, where one will not work and the other will bust their ass. When they moved back from NY, my ex was workin 40 + hours for 5 mos. and I hadnt seen her four months before that. there's a slew of other things but i just wanted to vent a lil and ask anyone else if theyd had similar experiences. i like my ex's twin. it's weird, although i know she championed/supported our breakup, i can talk to her easier now than my ex. i just feel that they have something special, but it can really be hard for someone that is trying to get any attention from them if they arent involved in what the twins have planned. it must also be said that my ex is the follower of her sister, for sure. also noted that the sister is more open and giving to her bf's then my ex. or who knows, maybe it was just me?
tanbark813 Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 1, 2, and 3 don't seem all that unusual but 4 and 5 are pretty weird. I have an ex who has a biological twin. They're not like what you described. The two of them are close to each other, of course, but they're not joined at the hip. And while they have similar mannerisms, they don't have the same tastes in men. Like a lot of things I think it depends on the people in question.
melodymatters Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 OH YES !!!!!! Finally, somone who understands ! I dated an identical twin who was also the " follower". This was all complicated by the fact that they are southern and SUPER family oriented. So the family bought a 60 acre campround thing and MY twins job was basically to live there and keep and eye on it, with the other twin coming in on the weekends and setting the rules. MY twin, couldn't live with me or talk about marriage because of the family obligation, and the other twin was single and seemed to be jealous of our closeness and so he alternately hit on me and alientated me. It was the strangest experience of my life. I'll probably write a book about it one day !
Cinabon Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Ive dated a guy that was a twin. What an experience that was. When we argued his brother understood where i was coming from but my bf at the time had no clue. We broke up after 6 months. I am still friends with his brother though. LOL
Art_Critic Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 4)When they moved back from NY, they moved in with me as a pair, then asked if they could pay rent for one person. I would've agreed but only if I got to sleep with them both at the same time.. I have dated an identical twin.. I had the evil twin... They competed on levels with each other that I never understood.. If one got a boob job then so did the other one.. If one had a BF then the other got one out of not wanting to feel left out.. If one got a tattoo then the other would get the same one.. One would get a job and the other would want to get a job at the same place. The list goes on and on.. Although it seemed to me that the evil twin was always playing catch up with the good twin.. The evil twin while great in bed was very emotionally draining to be around and was drama driven. She would create drama in her life and watch it all unfold and then sit back and laugh..( something I think she learned from being a twin ) I always thought her sister was more stable .. .. I'll bet that is the case with alot of twins..
