ls3360 Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 I've got what is probably an unusual question for everyone. I had a girl friend a few months ago that had a stray comment that I'm just reflecting on now. Razzing, pranks, and chain pulling seems to be part of male bonding. I think it's common in the military, fire/police-service, male team sports. It's a way of showing affection and it's accepted that way. OTOH... I'm thinking nice gals see it in a different way.... ' not just when done to them, but also when done to others... even others that might turn out to be perfectly fine with it. Perhaps they don't just think of it as immature... but worse? Thoughts?
Author ls3360 Posted October 9, 2007 Author Posted October 9, 2007 What prompted this question was that, this week, another ?nice? gal seemed to hold the same view. What I've found out since I posted is that in her case, it's just the opposite. She likes the teasing. For her it's a type of flirting. She is actually quite a tease herself. :-)
googlezap Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 Yeh it's a form of flirting. I think they have to know you're joking with them though. But as usual it's up to the girl, some have a better sense of humor than others.
woodsfield Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 yeah...chicks do it too. was it a college girls soccer team or softball team that got into a bunch of trouble doing this a little while ago? some people like jokes....others don't.
Trialbyfire Posted October 10, 2007 Posted October 10, 2007 No problems here about button pushing and chain pulling. As long as it's relatively tasteful, it doesn't bother me. Same goes for pranks. As for hazing, it's not acceptable.
Author ls3360 Posted October 10, 2007 Author Posted October 10, 2007 What's razzing? It's lovingly making fun of someone for something they did that really isn't important. For example, if Mr Johnson scraped up a few vehicles, give him the nickname "Crash" Johnson and whenever the topic of scraping or crashing a vehicle comes up, find a way to mention "Crash" Johnson if he's in earshot.... but always do this in an affectionate way.
