shadowplay Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 I've seen a lot of threads outlining the ideal man, but few on what men look for in women. Describe in as much detail as possible the kind of girl you'd fall in love. I think I have a pretty good idea of what men look for, so correct me if I'm wrong. These are the qualities that I've observed guys respond most to: *smart *warm/loving/supportive *confident/respects herself but has a vulnerable side as well *optimistic *independent/not needy *doesn't take herself too seriously/fun to be around *doesn't do all the talking/good listener but has a mind of her own *somewhat reserved as opposed to a party animal type Anything I'm missing?
spookie Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Well hopefully not everyone is looking for the same girl.
Krytie TV Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Oh come on, just stop it already. You are the perfect girl for many guys. Don't worry about what random people you don't know look for.
Author shadowplay Posted October 2, 2007 Author Posted October 2, 2007 Oh come on, just stop it already. You are the perfect girl for many guys. Don't worry about what random people you don't know look for. Honestly, I'm just curious. This doesn't have to do with me. A lot of the qualities I mentioned above are ones I don't have (confident, optimistic for instance).
tanbark813 Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 I agree with your everything on your list except I find a little bit of neediness endearing. ("Little bit" being the key phrase, however. ) The optimistic part is also a big plus. Negative girls with whom conversation consists primarily of them complaining about how shytty their day was get tiring very quickly. I would also add: *social; interested in being friends with my friends *doesn't rip on me in social settings (lots of women seem to do this to their men for some reason)

Great list indeed. I would add: -can easily make me laugh -has the ability to be empathetic and open minded -can tolerate my grumpiness in the morning:o:D
Kamille Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Well hopefully not everyone is looking for the same girl. bahahahahaha! good one spookie!
NightsInWhiteSatin Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 I have yet to find my ideal guy, not one has come close yet. But what i will say is i fell in love with one of them...he was far from ideal in very big ways...but i loved him for his good and bad. Till the bad became cold hearted in a very big wrong way that i couldn't shove to one side and ignore. Still, if the bad hadnt become that bad...i'd probably still be in love my unideal man. It's hard not to try to perfect yourself. It's even harder to try not to do so when you're with someone who you want to be perfect for. Unless you're a horrible nasty person...i'd stay just the way you are because when some one truly loves you they love all of you...the good the great the annoying and the bad.
allina Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Oh whatever all guys also want a girl that's thin and hot.
alterego1234 Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 My (partial) list: + friendly / kind + considerate / thoughtful + honest + open + loyal + frugal + educated + not self-centered + secure in herself And to be blunt, right now she'd have to at least be cute. But what each guy considers cute or pretty is very much YMMV. I thought my ex was gorgeous but other guys I asked thought she was just so-so.
Ariadne Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Oh, Come on. Beautiful (to them) comes first to any of that. Ariadne
melodymatters Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Shadow, I don't mean to be hurtful in any way, but from reading some of your threads, and your posts in others, it seems like you are working too hard on being the "perfect girlfriend". I'm all for self improvement, but don't lose yourself either. Maybe somone who is trying as hard to be the perfect boyfriend to shadowplay, or where you both just dig each other, warts and all.
allina Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 Beautiful (to them) comes first to any of that. That's kinda how I feel, I think it goes like this 1. thin 2. pretty 3. confident 4. fun 5. honest 6. smart
reboot Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 I've never prefered thin. And I think you'd be real surprised how many guys like a girl with some meat on her bones. I'm quite serious.
tanbark813 Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 That's kinda how I feel, I think it goes like this 1. thin 2. pretty 3. confident 4. fun 5. honest 6. smart Most guys will take a fun 7 over a bitchy 10 any day of the week. And if you read through threads like this you'll see that women aren't exempt from desiring physical attractiveness: http://www.loveshack.org/forums/t130744/ And well-defined, dark brows to frame those perfect peepers are an absolute must. Eyebrow requirements for Christ's sake! Get off your high horses, vag-owners.

Get off your high horses, vag-owners. If she's bitch then she's not a 10 And I didn't post that in an angry, accusatory way I just think that's the way it is. I agree that women's lists are longer and often more shallow.
NightsInWhiteSatin Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 haha vag-owners??? You're a funny one tanbark
tanbark813 Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 If she's bitch then she's not a 10 Well that's getting into a semantic argument. The point is that looks don't always win out over personality.
tanbark813 Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 haha vag-owners??? You're a funny one tanbark B_O's "cavernous vaginas" thread has the term "vag" stuck in my head.
spookie Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 That's kinda how I feel, I think it goes like this 1. thin 2. pretty 3. confident 4. fun 5. honest 6. smart I think it's pretty, confident, thin, fun, smart, honest.
reboot Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Why do all of you think thin is a top attraction?
alterego1234 Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 For me slender is OK but too thin or overweight are both turn-offs. Used to be because I was shallower and more into looks, but now it is a signal that she doesn't respect herself well enough to take decent care of her body. I guess HWP would be what appeals to me. Skinny with a big rack is frankly icky to me. Fat and flat chested is also out. But I also realize that God gave ya what He gave ya, and so I try to be the guy who looks at what you did with what you got, not where you ended up. Oddly, a woman who is *too* attractive is now unattractive to me. Odds are she is high-maintenance and self-centered because she can get away with it because there are guys lining up to be with her. No thanks.
allina Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Why do all of you think thin is a top attraction? Because no one wants a fat girl. Even on those dating sites, does anyone check the "overweight" or "huggable" or whatever box for their match? I think not. Are the beautiful women in movies and magazines fat? No. I don't get why it's so taboo to say that people prefer to not date overweight people.
sveltskye Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 It depends if you're talking about a girl you know well, or one you've just met. I think personality contributes a lot to looks, as well as just being traditionally "hot" (i.e. thin and attractive featured). A bubbly and charismatic girl whose less attractive may get a lot more attention than a girl who's georgious but snobby, but one with a great personality and great looks will win over both. It's kind of like the genetics equation where environment and genes both contribute to a specific trait- (E+G) only for this case its looks and personality (L+P) contributing to the whole effect. Some guys might go for an attractive girl who's a bitch to them, but they won't be happy with her for long, and soon they'll be looking for a girl with the whole package. That may have been encredibly rambling. Oh well. Oh and btw, there's a difference between being obese and being slightly overweight or chubby. Obesity is not generally considered a turn on, but a lot of guys like a more full figured or plumper girl over a skinny one.
