SuperHands Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 So on top of having to get over this relationship, I seem to have developed this idea that my work mates dislike me. Some of my previously close mates just don't seem as close anymore and it's really bugging me. I don't want to challenge them and ask if i've done anything to offend them as it comes across all needy and chances are, there is nothing wrong. It's likely i'm just looking into things too much and interpreting them wrongly. I'm just struggling to stop myself doing this. Has anyone else felt like this?
reboot Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean everyone isn't out to get you.
Spinderella Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 I think most people get this from time to time, with someone or other, or even "everyone", but if you wait for the feeling (or as reboot said "paranoia") to pass, you will realise it was all in your head.
CaliGuy Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 If you're seeking approval from within, what other people think about you won't matter to you. That's a good way to build your confidence brick by brick.

Author SuperHands Posted September 27, 2007 Author Posted September 27, 2007 Yeah i'm just really hoping it is paranoia and it will pass. Damn I thought i was getting somewhere and now i feel like i'm on a downer again!!
Curious139 Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 At this time you have been suffering from mild depression. When we feel like this, we send subliminal sigals to others - not meeting their eyes, not smiling, talk less etc. This can make people feel uncomfortable around us although we are completely unconcious that we are affecting their perception of us. I had exactly the same thing happen to me and I couldn't figure it out. It has been 3 months now and only very recently have things become more friendly at work. Be kind to yourself. Make an effort to be friendly at work, it will all sort itself out.
Geoffrey Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 when i was in the midst of my very severe depression about five years ago. Turns out it wasn't true at all. Not even a little bit! When one is depressed...what goes on in the head sometimes bears little relation to the way things really are OUTSIDE the head....those are called cognitive distortions. If you do a google search on that term, you will see what I mean. Beating back those cognitive distortions is the MAGIC KEY to geting out of a depression! It worked for me.
