googlezap Posted September 20, 2007 Posted September 20, 2007 I've known a girl as an acquaintance for a few years, but this past month we've hung out 4-5 times, and she's initiated twice. Recently she asked me to go study with her and the get dinner afterwards. While we were walking to dinner she complained she was cold, and I put my arm around her and gave her a squeeze. She thanked me but told me I didn't need to do that. Is that a bad sign? She rarely touches me, although one time we were doing some carpentry and she put her hand over mine while stabilizing a board.

She expects me to open car doors for her and stuff, and I wouldn't do that for a regular friend. Really I'm more worried about her response when I put my arm around her. She didn't get closer or anything like that afterwards.

She didn't get closer or anything like that afterwards. She doesn't sounds like a touchy person (which could change, people are different in a relationship). I wouldn't worry about that, I think it was just a response that I myself have made when someone makes a nice gesture and your not sure what else to say. Like they give you their coat or something else sweet, "oh you shouldn't have!" Doesn't mean she didn't want you to. Though I would figure out if your dating or not before you worry too much about things like that.

Ask her out on an official date and maybe through the word date in there. Or come out and ask her. "Would you say that we are dating?", "Would I be wrong to assume we are dating?"
