Yesterday I got the surprise of my life.

I was at home alone with our son while my husband was at work. I hear a knock at the door. I asked who it was and all I hear is "such-and-such Police Department". I opened the door and discover there is a warrant out for my arrest!!!!! I'm in tears because I'm home alone with my son and there is a police officer standing there wanting to arrest me!!! He can't tell me what it's for. He tells me I have 2 hours to come to the police department and surrender seeing how I had my son at the time. I called my husband in hysterics and he comes home and takes me to the PD to see what is going on. Turns out my HUSBAND got 2 parking tickets and never paid them. The car was registered to me so the tickets were issued in MY name. Since they weren't paid, I GOT ARRESTED!!!! They let me go on PR and set a court date. The tickets were only $20 each!!!

I looked over at my husband and said "You OWE me...BIG TIME!!". I've never even gotten a speeding ticket.

What would you do if your spouse did that?

:laugh::rolleyes:

I'd make sure the car was switched in HIS name and not yours. Pretty simple really. But to be honest my H would never do that...(I would but then, he could always get me out of it...oops but I digress).

Kill him. Hide the body.

I'm only half kidding. But seriously, is his lack of responsibility in taking acre of stuff like this an ongoing problem? If so, you too need to have a serious talk. You shouldn't have to paying the price for his lack of responsibility and laziness.

Oh I was mortified. I had a mugshot taken...everything. Now I kinda chuckle...but still. He has apologized...but it doesn't seem sincere. I told him he has to clean the entire house...and that MIGHT help. I just can't believe they arrested me!!!

Wow that's pretty horrible thing for him to let happen  ...... im(h)o your name says alot.......i hope you find LOTS of crummy chores for him to start making things better! :p

In my next sexual encounter with my H, I would insist that he role-play in a fantasy in which I am a female police officer arresting HIM for a petty crime. I would strip-search him, then handcuff him to the bed. Then I would torture him a little.

And then I would leave him handcuffed to the bed, and go shopping.

What a jerk. I know better not to get my wife involved in my dirt and he should extend the same courtesy to you.

I live in a very small town. Thank goodness my building manager told them I'm a nice person when they knocked on her door wanting to know which apartment I was in!!!!

I made that name when my husband and I were having some pretty serious issues. Basically I wasn't attracted to him anymore and we were fighting constantly. Plus we have a 2 year old son. I was regretting getting married and wondering if he was indeed the one for me. Things are better now though. We went away for our 3rd wedding anniversary and left our son with my FIL and SMIL (not the ones I was mad about...) for the night. It did a WORLD of good and was wonderful to reconnect the way we did.

Wow, I've never heard of that happening before. But, then again, the laws in Canada, atleast in Ontario, if you don't pay your parking tickets, you get 2 warnings in the mail and each time they increase, and then if you don't pay that, it doubles or something. Bottomline, when it comes to renewing your liscense plate stickers, they won't renew until you've paid the parking tickets. No arrests.

hahhaa..

I read this and it sort of hit home since I work in an area of the legal industry that specialize in such things. I get phone calls from wifes, girlfriends, and even mothers, who are attempting to clean up their "mans" warrant record.

And... after working the vast majoirty of my life as an assistant to high level executives and professional men.. this is what I have to say to you.

DOES THIS REALLY SURPRIZE YOU.. I mean, I love me.. but they're aren't exactly ORAGANIZED.

I worked for an attorney for years, who was absolutely amazing at his job, yet, I can't even discribe how utterly incapable he was at every day life.. He'd lose his drivers license on a daily basis, lose his credit cards, locked his key in a car, for get important client files at court, forget to pay his Attorney Bar fees, I EVEN ONCE FOUND HIS NECK TYE IN A HANGING IN A TREE OUTSIDE THE OFFICE.

My hubby has alot of the same traits. I just take over the areas he's incapable of handling, while I'm a clutz, and he safe guards my life for me. It works out :)

Got to tell you though, without men like that, I girls like me would never be able to afford graduate school!!!

Huh? Are you sure you got the full story? They came to your house and ARRESTED you for PARKING tickets? Doesn't make sense. Keep you from registering your car, sure. But send an officer to your house, seems hard to believe...

Wow. I have a parking ticket from like, 3 years ago that I never paid. I guess I just sort of forgot and found it a few weeks ago and now its gone up from 20 to 60 because I didn't pay it on time so I have been putting it off. After reading this ost, I'm going to teh police station tomorrow and paying, I had no idea you could get arrested for that!

Oh I'm sure it was for parking tickets. In our town you can get arrested for violations. I think that's how they make ends meet. At least I didn't have to post actual bail, they released me on PR. I didn't know they arrested for parking tickets either!!! In my old town I had a couple of parking tickets and all they did was keep sending me letters stating I needed to pay them. Here...well...guess they are a little more strict :(

My b/f got arrested for unpaid parking tickets way back when. It's the only time he's ever been in the pokey, thank goodness.

He said they arrested him for "contempt of court" for ignoring the parking tickets. They kept him there for I think 48 hours?

Glad that everything worked out ok and that you can laugh a little in retrospect. Definitely time to get the H's car registered in HIS name.

I have heard of this happening in the area where I live as well . I wouldn't be too upset with your H , the fallout sucked , he forgot; a parking ticket is pretty easy to forget, but what rational person would suspect that the little peice of paper stuck to the dash and then put into the glove department and forgotten, would have resulted in their wife getting arrested in their home?

In my area arrest warrents will actually be issued for unpaid library fines.

Actually, that is very selfish of your husband to do. He obviously didn't care about your feelings or what happened to you because he didn't pay the tickets OR tell you about it! And you said his apology doesn't seem sincere? He doesn't give a rats ass. I would be furious and would seriously start analyzing him and our marriage and weigh the pros and cons and figure out just what I was doing with my life and him!

Maybe seem extreme to some but if you care about your spouse, you wouldn't do something like this and then not be sorry about it. On a personal note, I would NEVER do anything like this to my husband.
