Sand&Water Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 I stumbled across a man's website [online], and knowing that I had some rather free leisure time on my hands, decided to look at his artistic/entertainment work on his website. I was amused and genuinely pleased with his work -I would say it brought a smile to my face. Right then and there, I wrote him a light-hearted e-mail expressing that I had enjoyed viewing his work, the way his personality shined through each piece -and at the very end I wished him a simple message of "Keep Up The Good Work". Now. I have never done something like this before -sending random e-mails -but it was in spur of the moment and I didn't want to walk away without at least sending some sort of "Happy Viewer Appreciation Message". He seems to possess solid, rational and fairly good outlooks on life like myself. I wouldn't mind if I could get to know this person a little bit better, but what are the chances that he would reply to my e-mail? I want to simply to get to know him as a person for who he is -that is, not to take advantage. Did I make a mistake by sending him an e-mail? and What would I say if he does respond to my e-mail? I don't want to sound like a fool or creep. Thank you in advance. Sand&Water
popey Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 why are you even questioning this? 1. who knows what the chances are that he'll respond? what difference does it make what the chances are? if he does, cool - chat if you want. if he doesn't, too bad, and no big deal- you don't even know him. 2. why would you ask if it was a mistake to write him- he advertises his email for a reason right? 3. Say whatever you feel like if he responds. i don't get this one.
Poboy Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 nope , you didn't make any mistake on writing the email. if he responds ( which will be thanking you for the comments etc ) , you need to indicate that you are interested in knowing more of his works , what has he done/ studies for this art etc and tell about yourself ... what intrests you in his talent , works , how you relate to it. basically try to build a conversation on lines of his work & your liking to it and slip in some personal stuff
