My bf and I have been dating for a year and a half now. He's 44, I'm 39, we've both been married twice. While we are extremely compatible in most areas of life, its not perfect, and honestly, I'm not seeking perfection.

I could go into a long explanation of why I'm still unsure about us, but my question is simply this: how long should it take for you to KNOW if you've met THE ONE??

One note - I have been married twice, neither time for love. Stupid, I know, but my reality.

i know its a bit confusing but sometimes it takes a few minutes and sometimes a few months to realize if the person ur with is the one...

don't sell urself short by settling for someone who might be the one to whom you will need to make a lot of adjustments to..sure you will have to make some in every relationship but if love is not there it's not worth it..make sure you love this guy..also it would be good if you guys were good friends that helps alot in a relationship..

in my opinion you can tell by asking urself a couple of questions:

1. can you see urself with him in 20-30 years?

2. is he always there for you when you need help?

3. can he make you smile when your depressed?

4. is he a good friend/bf?

stuff like that..i am fairly new at this but when i had doubts about this one girl i like i asked myself these types of questions. it helped me hopefully it will do the same for you.

But if he IS "the one" would I really HAVE any doubts? He tells me that he's sure that most people have doubts even while they're walking down the isle at the wedding - is that true?

All I can say is that I have walked down the aisle but have yet to ever feel like someone is "the one".
