I found this interesting - ran across it by mistake but made so much sense I thought others might like to read it if they haven't already.

Very sensible. I don't believe a divorce is failure at all. It's foolish to keep on trying and trying and trying, while both or one of you is incredibly unhappy. If you've put 100% effort into making it work and it doesn't, martyrdom isn't the best way to live your life.

it *is* a kind of failure when you're locked into the mindset of marriage as an ideal, and don't see the human side of the relationship ...
