No. I didn't know they were attractive until after I respected their words. The biggest attraction is when I read a woman's posts and recognize similar values. It gives me psychological visibility, knowing that my values, my ability to use cognition to make decisions about the world, are alive in someone else; that visibility is a huge part of falling in love with anyone, to see what you believe in or admire living in another person. Learning that a woman is gorgeous on top of that gives me a lot of confidence. But most of the people whose words I admire are taken, married, etc. I don't have any crushes. But there are people I would try to get to know better if we lived in the same city. Would I have ulterior motives? Sure. Good looking cool girls typically have good looking cool friends. If I knew some of the women here were in my city -- and I am sure some are -- it is possible I'd try to get to know them better and eventually in real life. But I wouldn't crush. My expectations would be friendship, because there is so much vulnerability about me on this site, and expanding my social network. I guess my motivations would be "this girl is really cool so I'd like to get to know her better and expand my social network, which likely will lead to dates from people cool like her at some point, or if things develop with her, cool too, but there is too much vulnerability here to crush." I don't agree with attractive people -- though maybe people agree with me because I'm attractive, I don't know -- as I detest stupid people. Being attractive will buy you 5 minutes with me.

dropdeadlegs Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 I wouldn't classify anything as a crush, but I absolutely adore many posts by male LSers. Each one touches my soul in a different way, whether it be dry wit, high intelligence, empathy, and overall well thought out and written posts that state much of how I feel. Since I feel the same way about many female posters and am heterosexual, I don't think they qualify as crushes, but as others have said, there are people I think I would like IRL.
