Author keet Posted September 30, 2007 Author Posted September 30, 2007 That bit sounds to me like marriage is definitely on his mind and that he has accepted the fact that you are hoping to get officially married and he is not totally against that fact. Maybe he's working himself towards it, maybe he just needs a little more time before he accepts the reality of it and takes real steps towards it. It's only been two weeks, so wth Just my two bits .. Bobby I am going to wait a few months before I bring it up again. To push someone into it is not my style. I don't want to push and have him get married to me because I pushed. Perhaps I will suggest places to get married etc. Right now is a busy time for us in our businesses so not an idea to stress him out. Since that wonderful weekend, we've been going on date nights every second weekend so it is helping us to spend time with each other without the kids. BTW, after 10 years, I surely wouldn't leave him if we never got married.
JamesM Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 BTW, after 10 years, I surely wouldn't leave him if we never got married. Maybe I need to reread, but then why do you find it necessary to get married? And I am sure he knows that you won't leave, so he may also have the same question...why get married.
whichwayisup Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Create a will together, that will maybe help you feel more secure... Either way, right now you two ARE common-law.
dropdeadlegs Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Create a will together, that will maybe help you feel more secure... Either way, right now you two ARE common-law. Maybe, maybe not. Common Law marriage is not recognized everywhere. It used to be recognized in my state, but is no longer. Wikipedia has some details on where it is recognized, and what the requirements are. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common-law_marriage. Living together long term isn't enough.
