mika Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 Okay. My boyfriend and I have only been seeing eachother for about a month. We totally connected and we are very much in love. Since the begining of our relationship we said that we would always be honest with one another and talk to one another when there is a problem. We both believe communication is very important in a healthy relationship. I know for a fact he has out right lied to me. I guess I just don't know how to bring it up or get answers without sounding like I am accusing him. It just hurts really bad because I have had no reason not to trust him and now I don't know what to believe. If I can't trust him, then we have nothing and that would be so insanely unfortunate because we are really, really good together. Basically, I was hoping someone might have some advice for me as to how I should go about the conversation to discuss the issue. Also, I have promised not to tell who told me about him doing what he lied to me about. she is my best friend, who happens to be his best friend's girlfriend. It's just messed up. I am so scared that he will realize that I know whats up and then try even harder to keep it from me which may lead to more lies and more heartache. Instead of just trusting me with the truth. This sucks.

Sometimes people lie to avoid hurting you, and if it's a small lie (no, I don't think your best friend is hot; no, your ass doesn't look fat in those pants), it might be something you can overlook. But if it's a serious breach of trust, or if they lie to make themselves look better or to get out of something bad they did, then you have to consider that their lying is a major character flaw. Also consider whether your best friend might be wrong about his lie, or whether she might have a reason to make it sound like he lied when he actually didn't...
