Hi - I want to open this thread for those who are freshly new here and still cannot breathe - and to help those of us who are a few weeks or months out to realize how far we really have come;

Here are some of the methods I've used to get through this;

Books - particularly from an author named Pema Chodron. Pema is a Tibetan Buddhist Nun who runs a monestary is the US. She became a buddhist after her husband came home one day and and told her 1.) I am having an affair and 2.) I want a divorce. She credits this with saving her life.

Her point of view is that suffering is inevitable as we are human, and we can either run away, or we can face the fear and suffering, and use it to grow, to open our hearts, and to expand.

One technique of hers that I find exceptionally useful is to stop where you are, and just allow yourself to breathe in your feelings, but to stop the words that are feeding your pain inside your head. To sit STILL with the feelings of fear, insecurity, anger, loneliness, despair, and just let it be. NOT struggle, NOT feed it, NOT run away with it.

For those interested - the most helpful of her books for suffering through a broken heart has been

The Places that Scare You

by Pema Chodron

A Guide to Fearlessness in Difficult Times

The best way through this is to help others who are sharing our experience.... so, all you LS vets - what other ways have you found of coping though this mess?
