Gunny376 Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 I've been through a lot of S***! I've survied it all! A cheating and wayward spouse! A divorce! A bankruptcy! A War Been shot at! Been fragged! Been bombarded! Been cheated! Been stolen from! Been lied too! Been backsided! Problems with the IRS! Gone over 40 foot embankments in a car! Car wrecks! Should have died and didn't! Saw friends and comrades die that shouldn't! Suffered through deaths of beloved dogs and cats! BOTTOM LINE? Your azz is still alive, still sucking air? You're ahead of the game! The W or H left you? Get over it! Just that plain and simple! Either get busy living or get BUSY DYING!
PWSX3 Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Today I was watching a TV show & someone said; waking up on the right side of the dirt is a good day no matter what!!!!! Going to a funeral just lets you know that every day we live is a good one so enjoy that day as if it was your last because we never know when it will be our time.
Hurt & Alone Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Remember..............not everyone is trained to be like you military folk. Not that we dont love and appreciate all that you have done but IMO the military turns people into stone for the most part. Been through most of the items you have listed.....but I still hurt.
Author Gunny376 Posted August 28, 2007 Author Posted August 28, 2007 I say this to myself everyday! "But by the Grace of God? There go I!"

Not really~ Its turned me into a human being! Try stuffing another's internal organs back inside their body? Understanding the phrase "a bloddy mess" I've learned how to cry! And when I think of "them" I cry a lot! ALL GAVE SOME, SOME GAVE ALL!
Hurt & Alone Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Wow, that has got to be pretty tough on you. My step father breaks down and cries alot from memories of the Vietnam War and my grandfatehr from the Korena War. Sorry to hear that. I guess the point I was trying to make earlier was people in the military give the appearance that they are stronger than civilians and everyone goes through alot of pain and agony along the journey of life. Some handel things better than others. But as the saying goes "What does not kill us will only make us stronger". And just in case you have not heard this in awhile Thankyou for doing all that you have for this Country. You are appreciated.
quankanne Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 I don't think it's about being military personnel, but more like looking at it from this end of 30 or 40 or 50. Because as time passes, these horrific things become learning experiences and you grow; you discover that you have that innate power to manuver through the hurt and pain ... God gives you the grace to survive even the worst catastrophe, but you've got to reach out and grab it with both hands. Or as gunny says, you gotta chose to live, otherwise you chose to let that catastrophe put an end to you ...

With what I've been trough~ With what I've gone through! I did the best I had at the time! I gave the best at the time! I gave it all I had at that time! I gave all! It wasn't enough

Author Gunny376 Posted August 28, 2007 Author Posted August 28, 2007 It was more than enough for most of us. Blood, sweat, and tears! It wasn't enough for my brothers and sisters! MY CORPS! YOUR CORPS! It cost me my wife!
Melovator Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 P.S. Your cat is dead :lmao::lmao: What a great title! And a great thread- Everyday above ground is a good day! I keep thinking this emotional pain is a bit like labour pain- yes it sucks overwhelmingly right now but at the end of it I'm going to have something beautiful to make it worthwhile.

quankanne Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Do you make house calls? and if so, how quickly can we make arrangements for you to visit select family members and smack some sense into them? These people are going to be the death of me! <lalalala ... going to my happy place, going to my happy place …>
ilmw Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 I guess the point I was trying to make earlier was people in the military give the appearance that they are stronger than civilians and everyone goes through alot of pain and agony along the journey of life. In most military's around the world, I am sure they are pretty much the same.. but speaking from working with the British, Canadian, US, West German, French.. etc.. etc... Showing emotion... is to show weakness... It is frowned upon... You learn to bottle it up. I for one... did this... and it caught up with me much later... But when we learn to keep a positive mind set... we can survive anything..(pretty much)... Great post Gunns!
Author Gunny376 Posted August 28, 2007 Author Posted August 28, 2007 But when we learn to keep a positive mind set... we can survive anything..(pretty much)... Its all up to our individual selves. We're the creators of our reality, every second, every minute, every hour of every day! NOW!!!!! Get off you azz and get out there and "get some!" Get fired up about your life! Get excited about your life! Life's for living! Get busy with it! Get busy being happy! Get busy laughing! Get busy with a shinnin and a grinnin like a mule with briars in his mouth! :lmao:
Ladyjane14 Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 My computer got fried by lightning last week. I've got two cars that need to go to the mechanic... but the good news is, I can't walk through the joint without nearly stepping on a vibrantly HEALTHY cat, dog, or kid. Too true, Gunny. It's all about perspective. :bunny:
