NC? if ur ex leaves u for someone else do they try to call u afterwards?

hi LOVESHACKERS, i wrote a thread here last month when my ex common law partner of 3 years left me within 48 hours of me finding out that he had been cheating on me with a co-worker. when i confronted him he indicated that he loved her more than me. thought we were gonna get engaged next year. thanks to the support of fellow loveshackers, my mother, my doctor and my therapist - i am dealing with the situation much better now.

 

i've been reading other threads and i've noticed that a lot of people are having problems with maintaining NC=No contact. i haven't been having this problem because not only have i canceled his mobile phone plan that was in my name and i'm not quite sure if he's still staying with his cousin (that's where he went after he left me) but i am determined to never call him especially since he was the one whom wronged me.

 

but after 3 years i somehow expect him to care enough to call me to see if i'm still alive or coping. he thinks he took all his stuff with him (except for bits and pieces i think he overlooked) so he doesn't need to contact me to get his things or for anything at all anymore. am i just holding on to dumb hope? its been over 7 weeks since its happened and i haven't heard anything - as if he could just easily forget the 3 years we were together. does this actually happen, do the cheating exes ever call u afterwards? or are they so blissfully in love with the one they left you for that they couldn't care less how the one they left is doing - no matter how many years you put in with them?

In my experience with cheating ex's (actually just the one who did it over and over lol), when he hooked up with some other girl, and we broke up, there would be no contact from him for a little while. Then he would get sick of them, and be back carrying on with me again.

 

The exception to the rule was the last time it happened, he actually stayed with this one for about 5 years, and it took about a year before he was trying to cheat on her with me!

thanks for the feedback GUINEA01, i guess that's something i'm going to have to keep in mind. if he does ever call me in the future, it could possibly be just because it didn't work out with the other girl. a devastatingly painful thought but a reality i am going to have to deal with if it ever happens.
