Citizen Erased Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 So I went for an interview yesterday with this accounting practice in the city. Interviewed for an admin job, it pays about 10k more then my job at the moment (not including bonuses and super). The people were so nice, the office was amazing (overlooking Sydney Harbor) and I came away feeling really happy. Just have to wait until tomorrow to hear if I got it or not. I'm so nervous The chances of me getting the position are slim but damn I want to leave my current job, can't stand the place.
Author Citizen Erased Posted August 23, 2007 Author Posted August 23, 2007 Good luck dc!! I'm rooting for ya'. Thanks TBF. I've gone for interviews before, but never wanted the job as much as I want this one.
Author Citizen Erased Posted August 23, 2007 Author Posted August 23, 2007 Good luck DC. I'm sending good luck your way. Thanks I think I'll need it. Lots of it lol
curiousnycgirl Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 Keeping everything crossed for you - let us know how it goes!
Trimmer Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 coco - are you going to follow up with a note or a phone call thanking them for the interview and reiterating your strong interest in the position? I don't know if that's a cultural thing or what, but in the States, that's a pretty common thing, and is usually looked at favorably. Address it personally to the person you spoke to who you perceive to have the most influence on the decision... In case there are several candidates very close to each other, if they are looking for something to tip the balance, a confident, strong desire to do the job, plus a demonstrated ability to communicate (and with good social graces) may help... Good luck!
Author Citizen Erased Posted August 23, 2007 Author Posted August 23, 2007 Thanks everyone Yep Trimmer I phoned today and spoke to the lady who interviewed me. She said that she loved me, thought I would fit in really well with the company, but she had to interview one more person. The interview was actually quite relaxed, we had a few laughs and exchanged some stories about where we live etc (instigated by her obviously). The company strikes me as very laid back, yet very professional which I love. Everyone I spoke to was so nice, which is why I am so nervous lol Just hope the other person is crap hehe
AriaIncognito Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 I can totally understand your feelings about this as I'm currently feeling this way about an audition I went for. They claimed they really liked me but need to do a few more auditions. So, I'm totally empathizing here lol. Good luck! I hope you find out soon. I have to wait another week or so, for mine hehe.
Teacher's Pet Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 I'm waiting to hear if I get the much-coveted Friday night shift at my job. That shift alone is a car payment +++ each week. Consider what I make on my Monday afternoon shifts, this is a good thing. -tp "if you have time to lean, you have time to clean"

Good luck to you too then Well I just phoned them and now they have decided to figure it out over the weekend (this would be the time for the banging head on the table smiley) so more waiting I keep thinking "if they were so impressed by me then they wouldn't have to think about it." Well I am trying to stay positive, but also not get my hopes up Good luck TP
Trialbyfire Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 I keep thinking "if they were so impressed by me then they wouldn't have to think about it." Well I am trying to stay positive, but also not get my hopes up. That's a good place to be with an interview. Upbeat but reasonably so. Swami says: Your aura is full of positive energy. Focus on the positive energy and let it flow from you to your new employer. Create a spiritual connection with the interviewer. Make them believe that the success of the company is reliant on your hire...
AriaIncognito Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 I keep thinking "if they were so impressed by me then they wouldn't have to think about it." Well I am trying to stay positive, but also not get my hopes up I totally get that too. I thought to myself "well if i was that good they would have cancelled the auditions the next week". But well, i guess like anything, people need to weigh their options. Sometimes there's formalities involved. With job interviews sometimes they schedule interviews as favors so even if they fill it with you, they might still see the person to make it "look" good you know? Hopefully they are just interviewing more cuz they have to. Keep positive :-) Hopefully we will both get good news next week.
Trimmer Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 She said that she loved me, thought I would fit in really well with the company, but she had to interview one more person. I don't want to get your hopes up or bring them down either, but if she volunteered how she loved you and thought you'd be a good fit, you must have made a really good impression, and you probably have her as a champion. Yes, it's always possible that someone else just super will come along (like when you are in a relationship - of course there is always someone out there more beautiful, richer, etc...) but if she felt less strongly about you, she would have said something more neutral, like just telling you that there were more interviews to be done and the decision hadn't been made yet. Like others have said, don't look at the fact that they are doing other interviews as a negative thing. Often they will schedule a whole series of interviews for a position in advance, and there's seldom a case where they would just stop in the middle and cancel the rest... So that doesn't reflect on you at all. The other thing I wanted to mention - again, without bringing you down, I hope... Just in case you don't get the position, "bow out" as gracefully and professionally as possible, because who knows, another position could open up in the future - maybe the near future. If you were (1) a good candidate this time around (as it sounds like you are) and (2) gracious and professional, both during the interview and even after getting turned down, then you will likely be remembered, and in case another position comes up, you may well be "first in line" in their minds when it's time to go looking again. If that comes to pass, consider this just a business relationship put on hold, as they may well think favorably of you in the future, too.
Author Citizen Erased Posted August 28, 2007 Author Posted August 28, 2007 Have you heard anything yet coco?? No not yet I have a few other interviews lined up though, so if not this one then the job search shall continue Have you heard yet?

AriaIncognito Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 No not yet I have a few other interviews lined up though, so if not this one then the job search shall continue Have you heard yet? Yes, actually I have. I'm in the band :-) I found out last night, on my way home from the 2nd audition with them. So maybe this is a sign that you will hear good things too :-)

Author Citizen Erased Posted August 31, 2007 Author Posted August 31, 2007 Yes, actually I have. I'm in the band :-) I found out last night, on my way home from the 2nd audition with them. So maybe this is a sign that you will hear good things too :-) That's great, congrats . Well I don't think I have the position I was originally talking about but I have been given a second interview with another place with better money and opportunities so that has perked me up a bit. Altho my boss is now being quite obnoxious since I told her I was leaving But she gave me a good reference apparently so fingers crossed again lol
sb129 Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 DC< if you were that keen for the job, that would have shown through in your interview, and its never a bad thing. If you aren't successful this time, they may remember you next time a position comes up. All interviews are good practice. A friend of mine interviews people as part of her job, and once they asked a guy why he wanted the job... his answer was "don't know really, just seemed like a good idea at the time"... can you believe that???? Needless to say he wasn't hired.
AriaIncognito Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 DC< if you were that keen for the job, that would have shown through in your interview, and its never a bad thing. If you aren't successful this time, they may remember you next time a position comes up. All interviews are good practice. . This is excellent advice. I interviewed for my current company with a different group. Due to the fact that I had less experience than that group wanted, I wasn't taken. A month later, I was called to interview for another group, the group I've worked in for the past 3.5 years. About 2 years into my being here, the 1st group I interviewed with, was pretty much entirely laid off. So, these things happen for a reason. They may not be apparent to us at first, but usually there's a good reason. :-) Keep us posted!
Author Citizen Erased Posted September 3, 2007 Author Posted September 3, 2007 Well I just heard that I got the job I had the second interview with
Trimmer Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 Gongratulations! So is this one definitely better than the first one (you said better money and opportunities...), in other words, are you going to jump right on it and forget the first one, or would you still ike to wait to hear about the first one, if that were possible?
