uniqueone Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 Since I've been talking to several guys from the personals, I've come across a common occurance. They want to know your weight. Now maybe this is partly my fault because sometimes I ask them their past experiences with meeting people online. Almost always I hear a story about how the women are heavier than they said they were. One guy I was talking to recently told me that happened to him and that the woman said she was "toned and fit" but that when he met her, she had a belly and no a$$. I asked about how big she was and he said maybe 150. He also asked me what size I wore. When I told him, he said, so you're about XXX lbs. then? This isn't unusual at all. I've had men do this a lot. Fortunately, I'm thin and fit so it doesn't bother me but it also makes me feel like gee, the men are all so judgemental. And maybe it's because I'm thin and fit that they open up to me more about how they really feel about the weight thing in women. They figure they won't offend me because they're not talking about me, but about others. You know that these guys won't give the woman a second thought if she' overweight. It doesn't matter how much they liked her before they met her or how attractive they thought her face was. Another one told me that he met one recently and she was heavier than she had led him to believe. They met for drinks at a restaurant at 8 pm. Of course the waitress asks if they want food and so the woman ordered. He told me she ordered a lot. He said he let her pay half and he thinks that she was a bit taken aback by that. Btw, I DO see his point..not wanting to used to buy dinners. On the other hand, he did judge her by her weight. (the funny thing is, I'll meet a guy for a drink and he'll be the one who asks me (often more than once) if I want to order something to eat and I'll tell him no that I'm fine....I never use guys for free dinners...just the opposite.) But you know, this whole weight thing makes me a bit self-conscious, even though I'm in good shape. I don't know if it's because these guys are in good shape that they're that way. I have to admit that I DO pick men who are fit. And true, I'm not attracted to overweight people either. But to me---and maybe this is just my impression---it seems that the men dismiss the overweight woman entirely. I wouldn't dismiss an overweight man entirely. Chances are, I wouldn't be physically attracted to him and we wouldn't have much in common since I'm very active in physical activities, but I'd still get to know him and enjoy his company...and maybe end up friends with him, if he'd want to. It's interesting to hear what men say when they think they won't be offending you because you don't fit the category they're talking about......
tanbark813 Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 Women do the same thing regarding height. It's kind of funny to browse the personals and see how many chicks who are 5'2" want a guy 6'+.
charliepapa Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 Basic biology here. First Impressions count. Men's is looks and health, women's is personality. Hence the happy fat woman and the fun jerk.

tanbark813 Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 I'll have to disagree with that because I don't like tall guys. You're also just one person. I'm not saying all do, just many. Actually girls around 5'6" - 5'8" seem to have less of an issue with height than those around 5'0" - 5'2".
IpAncA Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 You know I have no idea what matters anymore. I'm 5'2, close to 100 and to some people I'm fat and so some guys I'm too skinny. Do I care? No. I'm not eating those polish donut things just to gain 10 lbs. In terms of height. I like the guy to be taller than me. I've never had that problem. I don't like the 6+ in height because that's just too tall for me. GIANTS from my perspective. LOL!!
charliepapa Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 I don't get what you mean. Stereotype. The fun bloke who is exciting to be around but untrustworthy. That physically unappealing woman but is fun.

Oh REALLY cos of course we don't know that I guess it makes us more aware of height.
Trialbyfire Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 Forgive me if I'm being naive because I've never used the personals or online dating but aren't they more of a wish list, with most items negotiable unless otherwise stated?
IpAncA Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 Oh come on short is not that bad. Guys DO dig short girls. I love being short.
directx Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 I love all types of girls, seriously (which makes downloading porn more of an ordeal than it should be). I just want to see a few pics after chatting with her for awhile. And I would rather do it in that order - chat, then pics.
Citizen Erased Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 Oh come on short is not that bad. Guys DO dig short girls. I love being short. I like being short too. But I get so annoyed when people feel like they have to mention I am short every time I see them.

Well the way most of them work is that your results when you do a search are dependant upon your criteria. Searches will show people who fall outside your preferences on some things but the further they miss the mark the lower they are in the ranking. Oh come on short is not that bad. Guys DO dig short girls. I love being short. Of course. Personally I don't care how tall/short a woman is. Short girls make my dick look bigger and tall girls leave me closer to their boobs when we dance. It's win-win.

Short girls make my dick look bigger and tall girls leave me closer to their boobs when we dance. It's win-win. You got it all worked out. I love it. Lol!! I like being short too. But I get so annoyed when people feel like they have to mention I am short every time I see them. Yeah that's annoying but I'm use to it. I normally ignore it or give them a smart a** remark. It's like people are stunned to see a short person when the average height isn't exactly that tall.
Pyro Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 Yeah that's annoying but I'm use to it. I normally ignore it or give them a smart a** remark. It's like people are stunned to see a short person when the average height isn't exactly that tall. Heehee, you're short. I have been turned down in the past due to my height but it never has phased me. If I am going to be judged by my height, then I have no interest in those type of people.

If the guy can pick me up or throw me over his shoulder and has no problem doing that and my feet don't touch the gound then I'm good to go. Different story if I can do it to back.

I am proud to say that I am 5'9'' because I have grown an inch in the past year according to my Doctor. Fee Fi Fo Fum. I saw that avvie of you earlier. You look super skinny and super lite. I could probably pick you up one handed.

And yeah you probably could. I'd probably be like one of those 100 lb bags.
directx Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 Shorter people live longer. Thats why you don't see really old tall people. I heard it has to do something with it being easier on the heart to pump through a shorter body. Plus, if you are shorter and know your Judo, you can REALLY kick butt (or throw butt)

directx Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 I've never heard short people living longer. Alright. Yea for me. I googled it. ('do shorter people live longer?'). Apparently, one site said it was a myth, but taller people tend to have back problems. I still think I am right, because it offered no proof. And I can argue in Japan, they have some of the longest living people, and they are generally not tall

He stood over eight feet tall and he had some disease that kept making him grow and he died at an early age. (47)

But I do wonder if there just isn't that many tall people so the short out weighs the big.
