funkybassplayer Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 How many of us here are musos? singers , guitar , keys etc?? just a thought? or even who would like to be?
kali420 Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 i play the ukulele...back yard style in your face kine! haha. mostly reggae...some alternative in there too! i like to play when im drunk! but, i play everyday! love it!
Woggle Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 I play the guitar, keyboard and I know how to use drum machines and samplers.
LucreziaBorgia Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 I played slide trombone from 4th to 12th grade when I was in school. I really wish I had stuck with it.
Citizen Erased Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 Piano. Haven't played for awhile, but I had lessons when I was a younger, probably should have continued on with it but eh
NightsInWhiteSatin Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 Used to be able to play a fair bit on guitar till my ex broke the strings...now it just gathers dust because im an idiot. Recently bought a violin, want to learn how to play irish fiddle....just finding the money for lessons at the moment. I sing/screech like a cat in the shower lol there's enough of us to start a loveshack band
Teacher's Pet Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 Through my 13 years of musical training, I've played piano, saxophone, french horn, trumpet, bass guitar, drums (drum set/marching band/orchestral percussion), and I sing.. Today, I still sing, play bass, and can still fake it on drums if needed. -tp jack of all instruments...master of none
AriaIncognito Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 Since I majored in it, I had to take 3 years of piano, and a semester each of trumpet, trombone, clarinet, violin, flute, percussion. Of those, I only actually play flute and piano anymore. Oh and I sing, that was my actual major instrument. I dig the instruments that I dont have to carry around ;-)
SoHotZanzibar Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 Piano since i was a toddler and the fiddle, which I enjoy tremondously
Pyro Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 I sing, and I play both the electric and acoustic guitar and I use to play the trombone when I was younger. Why is this topic in the coping section?
wwjd Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 maybe because music helps to cope? i guess it wasn't directly stated in the op. anyway, i play crappy guitar and even more crappy violin. i still have both, but i haven't played either in a long time. the last time i played the violin was like two years ago, i think, and it sounded like i was killing a cat. completely lost my touch. oh well. but i like karaoke. i'm so so at it. someday i'm going to be famous, though, and i will advertise the HOBO perfume.

Music is a great coping mechanism, but it wasn't stated, so who knows? I can cover the HOBO cologne if you like.
tanbark813 Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 I play sax and sing. I can play a little guitar and piano. I used to be able to play bassoon but haven't since high school. Bassoon is a f**ked up instrument.
sb129 Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 When it comes to music, i am a jill of all trades and a master of none. I can play a fair amount of piano, bass, five chords on the guitar, a little violin, can use a sampler and can mix it up on the turntables if pushed...

Trimmer Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 I've owned and played the same Fender P-Bass (mfg in '76 or '77, the CBS years...) for almost 27 years now (yes, I've changed the strings...) but only started gigging a little bit within the past 3 years around the town where I live now. Probably do 10-12 gigs/year - loads of fun, but I'm not quitting my day job... Anyway, I love the bass. Took a year of piano when I was young, but all self-taught other than that... I play completely by ear; I can read music with great pain (Every Good Boy...) but not well enough to be at all useful in my playing - I just love getting into the flow and forgetting what my fingers are doing... I have actually messed myself up by starting to think, while I'm playing, about specific notes and strings and finger positions, etc.
Pyro Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 I know why. Its because I am a funny feminist. You're a feminist? Don't let Woggle read this.

I now have a 6 string for my gigs, as its very versitile, add fx and it can be a lead guitar as well, very handy in a duo!! and a musicman stingray for funk and slap, but do most of the stuff on the 6 string now. sometimes in complicated runs or funky slapping if you think about what you do you can lose it, but in slow melodic playing, its cool to look and think about the notes. If you can detach from your playing at a live gig, youll find you just flow more, and the hands stay more supple and not tense up.
Author funkybassplayer Posted August 22, 2007 Author Posted August 22, 2007 i only posted this cos i was wondering how many of us feelers, are artistic?? quite alot dont you think? let alone all the painters dancers etc!!
FC801 Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 I studied piano for 14 years, but am currently without one:( So I compensate by singing some badass karaoke!
