Deception about age & weight (from women), and height (for men), is a big problem in online dating. Be honest, or it can backfire. The phrase "45-year old woman" brings up a certain image, but that image is not always accurate. A 45-year-old women shouldn't lie about her age, but if people seeing her peg her late 30s, she should say so in her profile.
Reckless Posted August 17, 2007 Posted August 17, 2007 Women says this about themselves because women in this society are judged (by men and other women I might add) primarily by what they look like; men are judged by what they earne - so a man will have no problem bragging about his paycheck and feels is the ultimate compliment to tell a woman over 30 she looks "young for her age". Those of us with good genes and/or that have looked after ouselves and look good (read not old and haggered) as we advance in age carry it as a matter of pride, rather like a guy might point out he owns a ferrari or has just bought a holiday home in the Hamptons. Also since men generally tend to get more attractive with age and childbirth, stress and finally having enough of starving ourselves tend to have the opposite effect on women any that have 'beaten the clock' feel it has to be mentioned at dinner parties or in chatrooms or during speed dating sessions. I personally never say it since, like being beautiful, if you have to tell someone - ya probably aren't; but that's not to say i don't make a mental note everytime I'm told I look young for my age. Ah yes, we are all a product of society. Slaps on some more polifiller and checks wrinkles in hand mirror....
