How can I call a girl that I haven't to in 2 years without being too random?

I like this girl who is gonna go to a college thats 3 hours away from the one that im going to. I went to the same high school as her for four years we graduated the same class and everything. I never really talked to her that much, because I was shy. I said a few things to her here and there, but never really had a long conversation with her. My friend gave me her number a while back. I was thinking how can I just call this girl without it seeming like Im a stalker since i dont know her that well. Like what should I talk about and stuff?

She doesnt have a facebook or a myspace as far as i know. I dont have her email. I do have her AIM screename, but shes never on. What should i talk about? What should i do?

If I'm not mistaken, college starts soon. So why call someone who's going to be 3 hours away for the next 4 years? Why not wait a couple of weeks and meet some new girls? And why call someone if you have NOTHING to talk to her about?
