I'm in a rather serious long distance relationship, as some of you may know from previous posts of mine.

We still get along, still love each other, still talk every day, etc. I've never entertained any notion of leaving him or cheating on him, and yet I find myself flirting a lot with other men.

Not any men, mind you. Only men that are unavailable for one reason or another. They're either married, in serious relationships themselves, or...well...gay. The latter being the most serious type of unavailable!

Anyway, like I said, I have no desire to be with anyone else but I find myself being really flirtatious with, for example, these two guys I work with. One is married and the other is engaged, both very happy relationships, but they're just as guilty at the flirting game as I am.

What's the deal with this? Would I still be as flirty if my boyfriend were in close range?

Discuss. :p

Flirting can be a harmless way to boost your confidence and self esteem. As a young woman in an LDR, I know from my own experience that there is a need to feel attractive and "wanted" sometimes - flirting allows you to feel the physical attraction "vibe" that is lacking by being long distance. But if you find yourself flirting with other men really often, it may be a symptom of underlying questions about the health of your relationship. I would ask yourself honest questions about your perspective on the long-distance thing.

I know of people in LDR's that flirt w/ people around them. But thats where it ends. I think it has something to do w/ not being around your bf/gf for awhile. Just make sure you aren't leading on people who are single and are actually interested in pursuing something.

Sounds fair enough to me so far!

Like I said, I really have no desire to take it beyond the flirting stage, so I'm not so much concerned about it ruining our relationship. My boyfriend knows that I associate with plenty of men and he doesn't seem bothered, mostly because he has a great deal of female friends, himself.

I just thought this might lead to interesting discussion. :p
