krandall Posted August 15, 2007 Posted August 15, 2007 Waves of dull meaninglessness echo through the hollow caverns inside. A dim flicker 12 miles into the desert's plain darkness Is a candle that may not be seen The flow of confused thoughts swirl the pain And the candle flickers, almost blowing out They try and tell you that the flames can grow higher That the dim glow is a sign of a conflagration Listening to them would make you think of sunbeams But I still only hear the wisps of an open breeze on the straight road to nowhere Perhaps there is beauty in the solitude? But that seems a sad fictional tale of remorse Because the only flames seem to burn in the gut As the acrid taste of loneliness pervades the desert air.
