uniqueone Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 I'm thin and muscular and I do cardio daily. Lately though, I've noticed that my body fat has gone down a little too low. My veins are showing and I don't like it. I know bodybuilders like that look but I don't and it's made me self conscious. Normally I eat very healthy--a lot of good carbs (I like carbs), lean protein and very little fat. So for a month I decided to eat more fat and went on a kick of eating cheesy things, chips and stuff like that. Still have the veins showing though. Only thing I think it gave me was a gut--but I'm not sure if that's fat or not. Could be bloating.....I have some bad habits.....such as liking salt and liking carbonated drinks. Anyway, after a month I got tired of that high fat diet (I didn't feel good on it) and went back to the way I'd been eating and that's been for the last three weeks. Then the other day I decided to add more protein in addition to what I normally eat. By this I mean lean protein such as egg whites, tuna....stuff like that. Does anyone know if this will help? I don't really want to gain weight. I just want to get a small layer of fat to cover the veins. And I DON'T want the fat to go to my gut either! I'm hoping this isn't going to be one of those threads that no one can relate to. I mean, I know it's not about weight loss or anything. Any body builders out there? Oh and I guess I should add that I'm female. I have no idea what my body fat % is either. I don't know how you check it really.
norajane Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 You can have your doctor check your body fat percentage. Gyms can also do that with a caliper test (they pinch the fat around your waist or under your arm with calibrated calipers). I don't really know the answer to your question, but maybe if you continue to eat healthy but cut down a little on your exercising, it would help. The cardio is what burns the fat, so perhaps a little less than what you are doing now would leave a bit more on you.
