Hi

I recently started a job as an assistant..have been there for about 4 months now..in october there is a trip i would really like to go on but of course i dont get vacation time..do you think its possible that(i book the ticket a short while before the trip actually is) and tell my job i have a family emergency and say i am willing to take a week without pay in order to vist.

Is it highly likely they would agree to that?

I would never advise anyone to be dishonest. It ALWAYS comes back to haunt you. The economy is bad and jobs are hard to get. Hold off on going anywhere until you have vacation time coming. Don't give the shaft to the people who are kind enough to help you support yourself.

You probably wouldn't enjoy yourself anybody because SOMEBODY with a big mouth would ultimately spill the beans when they got pissed at you...if not sooner.

sungrl, why would you risk this especially since you were told to stop using AIM and your cell phone at work?

Is there harm in asking? If they said no, is it bad I even asked?

I dont know who would spill the beans, i wouldnt tell anybody at work. Im a private person anyway.

Don't you feel any need to abide by your employment agreement?

Unless you prearranged it when you accepted the job, that you were taking time off within a few months of being there, I'd not suggest it.

Please remember that any work you don't do, someone else has to. If you don't care about your job, at least have some concern about your fellow employees.
