Ok, I've watched that cheesy show Age of Love where the guy is in his 30s dating women in their 20s or 40s. So to the guys and girls out there, would you rather date someone older or younger than you? What is the biggest age gap that you could deal with? Do you think age really matters?

My fantasy girlfriend is an 18 yo geeky violin player straight out of Catholic high school who aced the SAT's and took AP physics her senior year. She may be Japanese, but she will have a black girls butt, and she will love to read Kurt Vonnegut and Murakami.

One of us will win the lottery and we will promptly move to the south of France where we will lounge naked under umbrellas made of palm fronds on the white sand beaches much of the year. That's when we are not riding our white horses up and down the beach, or playing chess with Pablo Picasso's great grandson (who happens to live next door). He'll be a sinewy and swarthy young fella with curly blonde hair and my True Love and I may ask him to play naked games with us every now and then.

When I get old they will both take care of me, bringing me big hot cups of coffee in the morning, and crystal glasses of lovely, light red wine in the waning afternoon light. I'll sit in my rocking chair on the porch and watch them run around naked and splash in the waves.

a few episodes... I missed it this week...

'Age only matters if you're a cheese'.

The biggest gap was 31 years with 2 guys, they were 23, I am 55...

The oldest was my first ex who was 11 years older....

I prefer younger guys by far. I can't date older guys anymore... I've been spoiled I guess....unless he would have lots of stamina...

My favourite age is from 35 to 45...they are the best!!!

I really can't tolerate guys my age- soooo much baggage - and I haven't found any guys older than me that weren't utterly damaged or just too plain "old" for me. Definitely younger guys...anywhere from 5 - 10 years younger (I'm 41).

This question is also being addressed in the general relationship area.

I have caught a bit of this show and even watched the end of it last night.

It is between two very beautiful women. 25 and 48.

As for the dude. He does have a nice body and an accent that would probably make me forget about that pesky cro magnon brow thing.

Sorry, I've never watched the show but as for your question about age mattering, just check out my avatar and sig. It should explain my attitude of the day.

I guess I don't pay much attention to how old they are, just their personalties...the oldest guy I dated was an ass, he was around 20 years older than myself. I was mid 20's, we never figured out exactly how old he was, but he was not young. The youngest was 19 when I was 32, he was...fun, but a little immature.

Most of the time they are right around my age, sometimes a little younger, sometimes a little older.

Why is this your favorite age? Am I missing out on something good?

I guess all ages have their good sides...

I have been with really young guys... they were amazing lovers, with lots of stamina...in some cases, waaayyy too much... they were killing me... LOL

Also some really young guys were coming too fast, but they were also ready to start all over again and again... some were kind of 'selfish' lovers, probably the lack of experience... LOL

The older ones I've been with were the complete opposite... had ED, one was taking Viagra... he never told me directly but I knew...

My best lovers are 37, one is 41... they are the best!

But I have to say that my current MM is amazing and he's 46.

Well I guess I had great lovers of all ages... LOL :laugh:

I like younger guys too. But I noticed that usually men up to 35 prefer a woman to be younger or only a couple years older than they are. Men after 35 want a woman to be younger. I suppose that's when middle age crisis starts. They do start to look older too after 35.

I guess if it's all about sex then the older cougars will want the young guys and the old guys will want the young babes.

Thankfully we all don't just want sex from our partners but are looking for someone that is fun, a great communicator as well as passionate.

I think, from my experience, that it's the opposite... younger guys, I mean guys in their 20s love much older women... and older guys prefer younger women...

I have had much more guys in their 20s and early 30s than any other age.

I date one for over a year who was 21 yrs younger... African-American... (spitting image of Denzel W)... then I had one for over a year too who was 20 yrs younger...he was the second most beautiful guy I've ever dated... an East Indian guy... a real Adonis... he called me about 2 months ago... to get together again... I didn't call him back...

Right now I am seeing a 23 yr old guy... this one actually wants to move with me.. LOL...

The last time we spoke (a few days ago) he asked me again to be his 'serious' gf... geezzz. He's the same age as my son... LOL

I am appalled to see soooo many young guys who want older women, it's crazy...

but I like it... :love::bunny:

It is crazy! I've got 26 year old guys all over me, and can't get a sensible word out of the guys in their 40s. Younger guys tend to gravitate towards older women and the older men want young, young girls.

love to read Kurt Vonnegut and Murakami.

I love to read Vonnegut and Murakami! Too bad I am not 18 and bubble-butted.

Well, I'm only 21 and I don't that much experience with dating, but I know I want someone who's had enough time to sow all his wild oats; someone old enough to know what he's looking for but young enough to have approximately the same life expectancy I do.

But spookie, the average woman lives 7 - 10 years longer than the average man.

Yah, yah. I know that. That's why I only date the extremely healthy.

Having fairly recently become legal myself, I'm not really in a position to date anyone much younger. It would be illegal - and creepy. Maybe when I'm older and the 11-14 age range is all grown up.

I'm teasing you about the equal life expectancy of your required mate. I also did the math... ;)

Personally, when pursuing a serious relationship I look for women that are somewhere around my age. I think that a major age gap could possibly play a negative role in a serious relationship. For example, in regards to the show the Age of Love which you mentioned. The guy is like 30. If he wants to have a serious relationship with a woman (marry, have kids, etc) is he really going to pick the 48 year old over the 25 year old? Probably not. If he picked the 48 year old and they had a child immediately, the mom would practically be in a wheel-chair by the time the kid graduated high school. Okay, that is a little sarcastic but you get the point.

The thing is none of these people seem to go on and marry except for Trista and Ryan. They end up breaking up after the show is over and they get their winnings.

As for me I like younger guys also. My husband is 7 years younger than me.

hey Lizzie60, what did you mean when you said you could tell a guy was using Viagra? My friend told me her boyfriend (in his 50's) uses it and she says a Viagra hard-on feels different than a real one? Is this true?

In my R ,my so is 43 and I am 27 . So there is a 16 yr age differeance. I find that this works out well because he is more patient in his willingness to put up with any "quirks" I may have .He is no longer interested in parties or clubbing or other women to the extent that he is at an age where he is ready to settle down for good . He also has personal attributes that I appealing , and so it works quite well.

The show was set up unfairly-first of all-his ex was 19!!

At 30, I think that proves the points made that guys in their 20's go for older, but once a guy starts approaching 30's/mid 30's he keeps going younger.

So on the show, the 20's are 3-9 years younger, but the 40's were on average 9-18 years older.

Whoa-big difference. If they wanted it to be really fair, it should have been women in their 30's instead of 40's to make the minus/plus gaps equal.

Plus, I think it was crazy how he got rid of Jayanna, she was a good match for him, I was surprised he let Amanda's "she said/he said" strategy work!

So even if he has more chemistry with Jen, he may pick Amanda just because Jen most likely can't give him a family.

Then people will say "younger wins" but really, it was set up unfairly to begin with.

Agreed. Some of the girls in their twenties were only 3 or 4 years younger than him and all the 40s were atleast 10 years older. Not fair at all. Of course the insecure Amanda will win, for all the wrong reasons. I think any woman that goes on a show like this and thinks the guy is really going to fall in love with them, isn't running on all cylinders. He'll pick her, but in a few months they'll break up and he'll move on to some one else. Even though I didn't really like Jayanna, it was really shotty the way he allowed Amanda convince him to send her home. Apparently he likes insecure needy liars. He's quite the catch. :p

ha yeah exactly!

And did you notice how he seemed to be evaluating them less on personal characteristics then on how much they wanted him?

Every question started with "tell me how you feel about me" and his eyes would get all wide the more they fawned and kissed his butt.

He vetoed Jayanna because he perceived that she spoke against him, without even getting to the bottom of it.

Amanda is definitely going to win. Did you see episode 7 where she tried to do the same to Jen by telling him she kissed him and told all of them. Jen was dumb to tell those girls anything, even though she thought she was psyching them out.
